Ian "sticks" Brayshaw has written a book about the classic one day game between WA & Qld at the WACA in 1977.
What a game! I remember watching the game on TV, the "great man" DK Lillee bowling bouncers at Viv, DK storming past the umpire who tried to warn him about the number of short balls, then bowling Viv. What a game! Should be a good read.

Remember it well. I was on day shift and the boss was all over us. Close to the end of the game he took the shackles off. What a game and what a man Dkl

BC WA made 77 and I think WA bowled Qld out for 65 or close to it. Remember Laird saying he fielded at bat pad and said he would have been no chance if there was a catch as he couldn't see the ball as DK was bowling so fast. Heard that DK threw his bat around the change rooms, used some choice words in saying no way was he going to lose to Qld.

The Richards wicket by Lillee is the best phsyc out of a batsmen I have ever seen .
Lillee bowled 5 bouncers to Richards to be warned by the umpire.
Finished off with best Yorker I have ever seen.
Richards was grinning all the way back to the pavilion.
He knew he had been done.

Legend has it that Lillee was so shitty at the batsmen he spent the break out the back bowling very bloody aggressively in the notes to warm up.

He started the rot but the WA bowlers, I think Malone supported him.

Those were the days DF, 8 ball overs, think Richards blocked one inbetween bouncers, DK had to appease the umpire, remembered him storming past the umpire and ignoring him as he warned DK to stop bowling short. Think Laird said whilst he didn't see the balls bowled he could he a whistling sound of the seam!

DK is probably the best cricketer I have seen.
I remember I was very shitty, 1970/1971 or thereabouts, I think, I was living in Vic Park (a true blue Vic Park boy born & bred - you can take the boy out of Vic Park but you can't take Vic Park out of the boy).
I digress, I was very shitty I decided I would go to the WACA at lunch time I think it was Aust vs Rest of the World. Big mistake DK started taking wickets I rushed down but only saw a couple of the wickets - 9/27 I think he took.
Many a good day at the "cow shed" at Hay Street skulling sherberts and yelling "Lillee".
Great days indeed.

I remember Aust v Pakistan at the WACA and one very shitty Pakistan fast bowler by the name of Sarfraz taking exception to something I said at end of play when we ran onto the field and chasing me back over the fence ......long story
