Unka when Geelong won their flags mate those years where pretty predictable from memory.....no different to this year in fact......Geelongs mids dominated the clearances, Their defence strangled the life out of the oppositions forward line.....as for thinking rugby is crap.....no I just raise my eyebrows when folk say rugby is more skillfull than AFL.....only thing rugby does better is tackling.....very few can kick or mark the ball......cant imagine spending 80 mins playing a game just tackling or throwing a football......not a fan of soccer purely due to the histrionics that go on.....but amazed at the skill required to control and pass a ball with out the use of your hands.....pity the players go down at the slightest touch......lived all over the world and still think all round in terms of endurance, strength, speed, passing both hand and foot, high/congested marking and congested evasive skills Aussie rules is more demanding......also rugby fans seem to forget their umps wave white flags to signal a conversion, drop goal and penalty when the ball goes through their goal posts as well........

I find that the likes of those you mention would jump ship if, or when, the Dockers go through hard times. Maybe they jumped on board just because they saw the Dockers we having a good patch. How could they know the match was going to be boring? Did they take their crystals balls out early?
I wonder if they knew that the GWS Swans game number one this year was going to go the way it did. Did they think it was going to be boring?
Some strange people watch, when it suits them, our great game.

Yes gws beat sydney, and did saints beat dockers, and bears ( i think)beat roos, my point being outta 200 gamesover a season, how many non boring matches are there? Most are so predictable it aint funny.

Sooooo because of that, we all stop going to games, is that what you are saying.
Maybe with your reasoning that may be why the attendances at the WAFL games is almost zero.

WAFL games i think are poorly attended due to mainly the lack of media coverage here in Perth

Bang on.
I overheard a conversation the other week where a bloke from QLD was saying that one of the bad things about the AFL is that the grand final is at the MCG every year where in rugby it is held at the reigning premiers home ground.
Ermmmm that is because the AFL grand final gets 100,000 people there every year where the rugby grand final might get 30 or 40k.

Cant remember the ARL grand final being played in Melbourne when Storm were on top or in Canberra when Mal Melinga was hot. Those queenslanders have no idea.

I actually enjoyed the GF bazza. The way the Hawks played was just unbelievable, I loved it. And seeing them flog Sydney, who are the AFL love child in my opinion, was exceptional.

I enjoy watching teams who have the complete package. It was a demolition for sure, and I was abit in awe of them that day. The Hawks really stuck it to Buddy too. You could tell the whole Hawks team wanted too.

2nd half of the GF was very predictable but just a case admiring a team that was able to totally dismantle one of the most disciplined well coached teams in the AFL plus Sydney have massive financial benefits over most other teams in the south and west.

So what happened to playing the TAC cup GF as the AFL GF curtain raiser, I'm sure they were still doing that a few years ago. Get to watch the future guns. The WAFL entertainment debacle was just a continuation of recent GF's, they get the cheapest acts they can and think that will do. We need to get back to the days of the great long kicking contests, the team relays, simple stuff like that that costs bugger all and would be enjoyed by the crowd.

Yeah no worries , I'm sure we all want to see one sided non events week in week out , with bugger all contest..hang on I think that is what the afl is delivering now. For mine the most exciting contests are the cliff hangers not interested in blow outs.

As for the NRL , it's done the razza mattaz and show biz a lot better than the AFL for years now, right back to the Tina Turner , Simply the Best days, the sexy cheer girls, the fireworks you name it, the AFL has always been a boring fuddy duddy old code, Tom Jones, I mean please...lol

anchorman wrote: YOLO, the NRL Grand Final drew over 80,000.But of course they would not have had that many if the game was Suncorp.
And by the way I did watch the whole game, but still it is not a patch on Aussie rules.

It may not have been an a patch on Aussie Rules and it may have been one sided, but I watched all of it. To see a side that has been through what they have and to finally win it made it worth watching. Seeing the after game celebrations makes me worry what will happen here when Perth finally win another flag :woohoo:

You and your pub mates are too fussy. It may have been one sided, but just watching the power and precision of the Hawks was compelling viewing.
