I guess if they could name the players with the injunction notices they we will be able to make our minds up very quickly if they were cheating or not. We only need one name to help us form conclusions.

If Dustin Fletcher's name is in the show cause notices then Essendon had no other option than to be cheating.

The bloke has never had a weight issue, so if he was getting injected with "Anti Obesity" peptides, then one wonders why he was really injected with and why.......

PH, I believe that's why Hird said he was shocked to be in this position at that press conference back in 2013. It was his belief and the clubs that the use of AOD, the weight loss peptide, was within the rules. Rightly or wrongly, that's what they believed. The fact that ASADA are not pursuing them over the use of this peptide is a pretty strong indicator as to who led them to hold this belief. The same organisation the AFL directed them to contact to clarify any information they required.

The most common sense I've heard from anyone regarding sports science in sport is that of David Parkin. He posed the question "rather than have a banned substance list, why don't we have an approved substance list which would remove all doubt". Until that happens sport will always be at the mercy of whatever new compound the scientists come up with. It would be completely naive of all of us to think that these areas are not being explored by all sports scientists at all clubs. They are employed by all clubs to assist players in gaining advantage and supplement use is in place at all clubs. The fine line between what is permitted and what is not will always be a grey area without an approved supplement list determined with best medical advice. If its not on the list, ticked and approved, then you commit a breach. This would eliminate any excuse from the sports science dept about fancy new compounds or new brands of supplements they think they can benefit from, removing any doubt as to whether the new product is usable, whilst also removing any competitive advantage. The list should also definitely state the brand of the said supplements that are approved for use. The players and or coaches for that matter should not need a sports science or doctor's degree to be able to determine what they can or cant put in their bodies. It should be simple to eliminate these grey areas. Brand and name of supplement, on the list, yes or no. Only then could it be reasonably expected that they can trust everything they put in their bodies personally or under instruction from the medical staff. Of course this will never happen as we are tied to WADA now.

Is that a joke, like what?? several years let go,, ffs..geez, Whats that got to do with the EFC issue?

In 2006, Smith won the award for best column in the AFL Media Awards, beating several noted journalists, such as Caroline Wilson of The Age, and Mike Sheahan of The Herald Sun. In 2009 he was awarded a High Commendation in the Graham Perkin Award for journalistic excellence, with the judges liking his "wit and courage, and his disdain for cliché. We were impressed too that he was so often ahead of the news in his sports commentaries."

Bazza you asked me the question and I answered it. Here is a simple question for you of the three journalists you named and excluding Mike Sheahan's recent trip to WA as a guest of the Eagles when was the last time they were in Perth?

I said many months ago that I didn't think Hird would coach Essendon next year.

Sharky I think the Bombers stance will become clearer once the decision has been made from the court. It is my opinion that Hird will not be welcome at the club after the decision. I have a feeling that the decision will go against the club and they will have much to answer to.
If that happens I see a conflict of interest with Bomber the Essondon Fc and the AFL/ASADA, due to the fact that he was fined for his demeanours. He is far from in the clear I reckon.

I agree anchor. I get a feeling that that Hird is not loved by all and sundry at esserden.
