I'm sure this will be in the "who cares" basket for many on this website but the Eagles have a bit of a problem going into this weeks AFL bye. East Perth also have a bye this weekend and the week after there is the State game V the NEAFL which of course is only open to WAFL players. So the outcome is that the fringe Eagles players will have no opportunity for match practice until the 31st May, which limits their selection options for their next game against Collingwood next weekend and also for the week after.

I guess this highlights one of the many disadvantages of this alignment arrangement in that in previous years a WAFL team bye would have less impact on the AFL team as the players were spread around. Perhaps the two alignment teams could play a scratchie on the day of the state game as there are no Peel players and only Johnson I think from East Perth in the WA team?

Hopefully the Eagles don't use this scenario to lobby further to eliminate the bye by amalgamating two non aligned clubs. As they say "you make your bed and you lie in it" ;)

I couldn't care less about the eagles, but if they had their own side in the WAFL, there would be an even 10 teams and no byes. And EastPerth would be East Perth.

Ive said it a million times, follow the SANFL model. Just do it.

The word SUCK CHIT comes to mind on this one mikeh......you gotta wonder if this alignment shit is actually working for these 2 stupid clubs, they both are mid table this year and the Dorks have really fallen off the perch..

You would think the original model of spreading the players around was a far better idea as they played with mature aged players and in teams that play with passion, team spirit and most importantly against each other to impress.

But now they all go back to one club in a comfort zone...stupid!

Anyway as you said they made their bed and now they can crap in it.

Totally agree Jardine. If the previous arrangement was unsustainable, the 10 team model would have been far preferable to the current mess. This is the default position.
