How do they work out Fyfe getting two weeks and Merrett getting the same?
Merrett has gone out of his way to whack the guy with elbow/forearm. Two weeks I would think is adequate for his action but when compared to Fyfes just shows how rediculous this match review system is. It is just plain stupid.

If you can work out how the fat boy thinks then you're half way there JB. This is the same tosser who blows $200 million plus on the Gold Coast Suns and GWS, two ex-rugby players on million $$$$$ plus wages even though they can't play, give Sydney an allowance because it's expensive to live there (Hello,Perth !), ignores Tasmania, a traditional football state except for the occassional game there, and gives the SANFL & WAFL $2 million whilst they fade away.....and you wonder about rule changes that lead to players missing out?????

Not too mention Boagsy that both an ERT & a FART player have been reported vs Swans so far this year and surprise surprise both have got off without a suspension ..and we both know who runs footy in this state!

This. Fyffe was accidental, and Merrits was appalling.

Let's not forget AD's 3.8million dollar bonus....half of it paid by the Bombers in hindsight. That's the sort of unexpected income ie a 2 million dollar fine that the AFL should be diverting back to the breeding grounds such as the WAFL

With regards to the match review committee....why are we so intent on ruling out the stars of our game for nothing more than accidental & incidental contact with no malice ever intended. It's pathetic. Merritt should get 4 weeks. McKernan should have got 8-10 weeks last year for trying to kill a player with his elbow. Both these players had absolute malice in their actions and should have been made examples of. The rule suspending Fyfe is a joke. Let them play if there is no malice in the contact. The footy watching public deserve better than to see the stars ruled out for little more than attempting to play the game.

Completely agree. I just cant comprehend how they are both worth the same time on the sidelines. It is absolutely pathetic and the AFL and the fatcunt that runs is should be ashamed.
They are transforming the best sport in the world into another form of kiss chasey.

One of the MANY reasons crowds are on the wane. They (AFL)refuse to listen to thier customers, who like any customer will slowly disappear, if they are not satified.

When you have a system with carry over points and a system that rewards good behaviour and punishes bad behaviour then you are never going to be consistent. remember Fyfe would have only been 1 week if he didnt have priors.

Having said that though guys dont get me wrong, I agree with you all, the current system sucks, Basically because he didnt break the jaw the defined impact as medium.....

Fyfe had ever opportunity to smother the ball, he didn't & paid the penalty. The head is sacrosanct even if accidental.
