you have to wonder sometimes about the mentality of people and in particular crowds at soccer games. This A-League club the WesternSydney Wanderers have supporters that are probably unrivalled in terms of stupidity.

They have a "somehow obsessed" group of supporters who seem to grow legs and confidence in numbers (very courageous). Last week they once again set off so many flares in an international game against a Korean side, that you could hardly see the ground. And they cause countless problems by doing the gang thing. Strutting in numbers down streets on game days , hiding their faces with rags etc. It just borders on the ridiculous. I honestly think broadcasters at SBS give them a free pass because they are creating numbers and noise, all at the expense of integrity. Its a very weak response.

And when I watched the news yesterday, they showed a coach of a Greek side get hit in the face with an object thrown by rival supporters. It dropped him to his knees. Imagine if these scenes happened in the AFL circle?

Seriously I wonder what gets into the heads of soccer people at times. Is there too much dead time during games that encourages them to go stupid ? If you want to create a war of sorts, just add some religion with a pinch of soccer supporter.

that..my friend is a question i've been pondering for many years. you can get 90,000 at the G for the Anzac Day game without a great deal of trouble...same goes for the NFL and College football...why is it then, if more than a few thousand gather for soccer in just about every country in the world it's almost a given that violence, riots and/or fights with Police? its got me stuffed....

Wanderers are at the top of the table, what do they have to complain and act up about.

It would seem that the majority of soccer supporters are ethnics. Poms love a stoush, middle easterners and a lot of the Euros are very hot headed and have volatile tempers - look what's happening around the world. Plus the fact that the game is so slow the cockheads of the world create diversions to get over the boredom of the game. Is this considered a racist post? Don't really give a flying frek.

Now what was that about me being an arrogant prick 58? I have seen AFL matches that are snoozefests too. There DONT create divesrions to get over the boredom, its just a place where they KNOW they can create mayhem, many of them use the term soccer supporters as a front for thier violent tendencies

Not sure where you're coming from unk. What is arrogantt about what I said? I didn't say we didn't have footy games that were boring, but I've yet to see where the supporters beat shit out of one another or set fire to the stands etc etc etc. I stand by what I wrote. Soccer supporters can be the right side of crazy. Do they go to the game to watch or just to look for trouble?

Racist, no. Its a cultural thing, and I think it is culturally acceptable around the world to be a tool at a soccer game. I'm sure there are Aussies there who are just as stupid.

Reckon soccer fans are culturally inept....yeah Aussie Rules fans can be just as bad, but I lived in the UK for 15 years and TBH the hard core soccer fans over their are farkin bonkers.....remember reading an article about how 10000 Everton fans turned up to cheer when Duncan Ferguson was released from jail in the nineties for beating up some fella......not too sure how many SD fans turned up to watch Andy Kraks release ....BH, SwanDog, 42 or RCQ might know?

Fellas like Gascoigne and Best are revered in the UK for not only their footballing exploits but also their alcoholic ways, both guys were mentally weak as piss, just lucky they could kick a round ball....though I guess AFL has Benny boy!!......plus can't stand all the shirt pulling over heads, penalty diving and ankle tapping that goes on in soccer.....drives me nuts....get on with it you are getting paid a bomb without the egomanic antics!

I guess every sport has its hard core cretins watching it.....just reckon the soccer lot have a shed load more cretins than most sports...how it is so popular I will never know!!

It has me beat as well freeze the only conclusion I can think of being the sport has been around so long that they dont know any better & is almost forced onto the kids from they time they can crawl (I see it with all the pommy fathers up here in the northern suburbs kitting their kids out in pommy soccer gear from babies) ..how you could watch 2 hours of that game just to end up watching a nil-all draw although most get so plastered at the pub before the actual game they wouldnt know whats actually going on (maybe a link to the violence) ..a special kind of people indeed!!
