I heard a hot rumour this week from an insider at the Department of Treasury that the State Govt are going to shut down Cannington Greyhounds as it is not viable atm plus because of the residential potential of the land. They plan on building one at some stage near the current venue on vacant land but in the mean time once it is gone there will be no place for greyhounds to be run in Perth

There was also a rumour that Bunning's has purchased the property. It was reported in the paper around August last year that the Agricultural Society who own the land has sighed a thirty year lease with the Greyhound Association. They are also building a new track where the trotting training track is down in Station street.

That's right guys they are building a new greyhound track at the back of the current track where the old trotting training track is.

Shit it is always a good night at the Greyhounds and a good feed. Reminded me of the old Freo Trotting track. Hope then new one is just as good.

I see Troy is having a couple of weeks off for personal reasons... Now what could that be.

Used to be a big night in the 80s, think I went there last about15 years ago and it was ghost town , a few shady looking bogans and bugger all atmosphere, would not be surprised if they merged with mandurah dogs.

Mate went 3 times last year and the restuarant was full lots of family tables etc etc. Not sure on the other parts though eg the public area as they always seem to have plenty of room.

Been there for the past 2 NYE's and it's chockers. Not cheap up in the restaurant but great night.
