I thought I would start this topic to engage some of the right wingers on this forum to see if they can rationalise the Fox News Channels blatant cheering of the right wing cause. As a measure of the Fox News Channel's bias I have included a transcript from one of their programmes (The Five). As you can see from the link it is from the Fox News' source:

Here's an example from the transcript:

"BOLLING: I think and I listened to President Obama's speech, I think he made the speech more about President Obama than about Nelson Mandela.

BECKEL: Oh, no, he didn't.

BOLLING: Well, Bob, there were a lot of references how, what an inspiration Nelson Mandela was to him, and how became a world leader. It really felt to me like a narcissistic speech at the memorable."


Perhaps you can also explain why one of them, Eric Bolling, is incapable or umwilling to distinguish between weather and climate. Also, perhaps he just doesn't realise that the entire earth is not just the USA. See below:

I watch Fox News on Foxtel as it is my second comedy channel. To listen to right wingers calling President Obama a communist, socialist and Marxist is just laughable.

With respect to Global warming/climate change it is a similar position to those on the right in Australia.

Finally, I created the topic for some interest during the summer break. As you are aware things have not been to rosy from a Swans' perspective in 2013, so it is a way of providing a diversion before we get back to the task of providing solid support to the mighty black and whites in 2014.

I am generally conservative, but have voted both ALP and LNP in the past.

Anyway, I find Fox News pretty ordinary and basically laughable most of the time if not all, it's also incredibly boring as it is entirley US based news about 90% of the time, I have very little interest in the US, been there and won't rush back.

Yes it is bias, and anti Obama, although I'm no fan of him either.

However, I must say they have the finest collection of attractive, cute blonde reporters and host of any news channel. Even this can't get me to watch.

On the other extreme I have found the one sided reporting of the life of Nelson Mandella nothing short of derelictory of basic journalism, the BBC World Channel has basically converted him to a saint, as has SBS, and the ABC are not far behind.

He was certainly no Gandhi or M L KIng, yet they have praised him as a great man of peace , in blatant and covienient forgetfulness of his MK ANC past.

No Idea what Fox was saying - would not bother with it.

BTW if you want a real lefty hangout and want to chill with the bitter and twisted hippies on comment threads, go check out the Guardian Website - its quite hilariously bias...a counter to Fox I guess.

Only problem is Guardian has a microscopic audience.

No problems Bazza. If we were all on the same side it would be very boring. It is laughable when you hear Fox News commentators calling President Obama a marxist, communist and socialist. I wonder what they would have called John Howard given he is left of Obama.

Another amusing part of Fox is that they are continually complaining about what MSNBC etc have said; yet on the other hand they keep saying how small their ratings are. A bit counter-productive I would have thought.

My first comedy channel is of course the Comedy channel. Even if you don't agree with Jon Stewart and Colbert - they are brilliant at sending Fox News up.

What is very sad is the inability of Americans to be able to have a proper discussion about gun control. Their inability to even get background checks a requirement for all gun sales is indicative that they will never be able to institute gun reform. As a consequence it is not a matter of if but rather when the next Sandy Hook will occur.

Agree 100 per cent on their gun law problem, I find it completely unphanthonable as a issue, I mean I just do not remotely get the gun lobbies mindset...they actually want more guns and more people armed to control the guns that are already out there because the guns that are already out there are killing too many people, so many in fact that they need more people with more guns...but of course without controls.

As you say imagine what Fox would of said about John Howard when he brought in tougher gun laws after port Arthur.

Another thing I don't get is this whole, the government are our biggest enemy, they are disarming us so they can prepare to turn on us ....conspiracy theory,,,what sort of a nut job idea is that?

When you go there and take a look around and talk to people , you really realise how most live pretty insular lives devoid of any knowledge of the outside world, very few Americans travel outside of the US.
