With the general feel about our wafl being very negative (and rightly so), I just hope all other club supporters try and stay positive this coming year. Perhaps EP will do what Claremont did in 1999 when they also had the full compliment of WestCoast players and miss the finals altogether? WHo knows maybe they could fall flat, its not completely impossible.

Hopefully the G7 clubs can recruit some key players of prominence, an example with the Demons gaining Morton and West Perths coup with Andy Krakouer could be the start. with both Peel and EP not being able to attract any outside established players, it gives the remaining 7 a better chance.

As helpless as it feels from my end, I just don't want to see this alignment kill or destroy our competitions overall great, loyal and passionate supporter bases. I want to hope it can surprise us all & thrive. Im sure we all do, but we seem to have little choice now but to focus on whats ahead and take control of our destiny. Its either that or die, and Im damned if I want to die that easily.

My club is what it is, and I use the term "my club" very loosely. More for effect in getting my point across. But all I say is get behind your club, get to the practice games when they kick off, go to the games from round 1 and enjoy the social side of what is a great outlet for us all on a Saturday afternoon. This is a local metro winter institution that we should be fighting for.

Next year especially will be met with extreme trepidation, but don't let it suffocate your love or passion for your local football team. Never Never let the authorities win without a fight. Get behind your club even more than you ever have. Yell even louder on game day, and try and enjoy 2014. All I am saying is just stay focused on the footy. Keep your approach simple & just maybe we can get something out of what seems a dire situation.

I don't want to see any of you loyal followers lose your clubs.
Keep our comp alive whatever it takes, we'll be ok
Sorry for babbling ,Good day to you all

I reckon the WAFL will be dead in a couple of years time, you could see the crowds dying off this year the crowd for the GF of twenty thousand was poor regardless the weather especially considering the sides involved.

I support a club that hasn't won a flag for 37 years and it wont happen while this alignment is in place that's for sure, so from my point of view the Wafl is dead anyway.

Peter, if everyone thinks that way then there is definitely no hope for the future of the WAFL. Might as well close up shop now.
Not many people like the alignment but it is here. IMO it will eventually evolve into something good for everyone or it will fail miserably. Either way it will be good for the WAFL.
I love the WAFL like everyone else but I also love the AFL (Eagles) and I fail to see why they can't live together, perhaps in a different model but nevertheless live and work together.
Like Jardine, I believe we should all calm down and give it time to evolve.
Giving up on the WAFL now will surely be it's death knoll. At least give it time to survive.

Well actually the 2 aligned sides can sign up to 6 (or is it 7?) out of zone players I believe

How will the alignment be good for the WAFL, EP will be stronger than last year and that basket case in Mandurah will be stronger, WP I see as the only challenger to EP the rest will be making up the numbers effectively playing for third and fourth spots.

No need to calm down Smokey the days of the WAFL are numbered, there will be plenty of whinging on this site as the alignment clubs continue to dominate.

Peter, we will have to agree to disagree. My point is that the WAFL will die if everyone just gives up on it. Only time will tell what good, if any, will evolve from the alignment and what effect that will have on the WAFL.
I don't like the alignment arrangement as it stands but I am not prepared to throw the WAFL out at this stage.

Well said jardine. You're dead right - we have to stick with our clubs to the very end. I for one have been a Sharks man for some 55 or so years and have no intention of ever turning my back on them. I'm going down with the ship!!! I've also been an Eagles man since their inception, so with this alignment, I'm getting just a little taste of how you must be feeling about it all.
