George Bailey - I know his shield record is not flash, but he impresses me in the poise he shows when batting and his captaincy is calm and considered. If Clarke is not fit for the 1st test, I would pick him.
Adam Voges- Long shot maybe, but he had a great shield season last year and is entrenched in the one day team. He is over 30 but so was Mike Hussey when he made his debut.
Mitchell Johnson - He is bowling faster than he has for many years at the moment and with the injuries to Starc and Pattinson, he is a shoo in for the 1st test. Whatever happens, He MUST play in Perth where he has a great record.
James Faulkner - Not just because of what he did yesterday. I like his competitive nature and I reckon he would give 110% in whatever game he is playing. His debut in the 5th test in England was impressive.
My team for the first test
Warner
Rogers
Watson
Clarke (Bailey if not fit)
Smith
Voges
Haddin
Johnson
Siddle
Harris
Lyon
Faulkner (12th)
Not much there to scare the Poms Mike, but I guess Aussie cricket doesn't have a lot at the moment. Two names that worry me are Warner and Watson. I wonder if Warner isn't one of the destabilising factors in team unity and Watson could be all about Shane. I can't offer any real reason why I say this, but it's a feeling I get from reading and listening to media. I'm probably wrong here - I certainly hope so.
