We have an inability to produce fast bowlers. We have more schisms within WA cricket than the ALP has in the last 50 years. We have people representative of those factions in Katich and Langer and we wonder why we are going nowhere.

As for the farce of the 50 over domestic competition, CA should have been told to let NSW play amongst themselves.

The gutting of the Sheffield Shield competition is another example if the problems with cricket within Australia.

That capitulation yesterday had nothing to do with our bowling attack .

I have had my rant about cricket scheduling on another thread, but I am struggling to think of a more pointless tournament that this Ryobi Cup in NSW has been, played on 2nd class suburban grounds with slow and low wickets. I would rather watch paint peel off the wall to be honest. This competition is being sacrificed to accommodate the ever growing KFC "big bucket of cricket" that adorns? our grounds from mid December to the end of January.

As for WA, I don't think anyone expects too much from them this year, although at least Langer is introducing some younger players who he has identified with potential ( Whiteman, Bancroft etc). We have a pretty decent attack now that Michael Hogan has decided to play. Rimmmington, Behrendoff, Beer and Agar will keep opposition sides down to reasonable scores. The problem (like the Aussie test team really) is that the batting will struggle to make 200 on any wicket and therefore the bowlers will always be under pressure. Rebuild I think this season but Langer will certainly demand more professionalism and effort than they have shown in previous seasons and you never know if they can show these qualities they may be able to go further than their talent suggests. Don't forget they nearly made the shield final last year and they would have done so if not for Ryan Harris taking it away from them on the last day of the season.
