Better team won on Friday night. We ( Cats ) tried our bollocks off, just age and tiredness seemed to get to us. Been a great era for us. Anyway Tim lane wrote a nice article on the cats, wont bore ya all with the entire story, but a nice little quote at the end was pretty much spot on i thought.

But while the time to look forward and plan a new future must be faced, there is also a time to hail past and present greatness. The loss of a semi-final to Fremantle - and with it the week off, Corey Enright and, later, Paul Chapman - eventually broke the camel's back. Such is the importance of each final. But the will to stay in the fight was awesome.

Yes it was a fantastic game to watch and who knows what would have happened if Varcoe had nailed that shot to tie the scores. Geelong were very brave and their ability to reinvent themselves year after year despite the AFL's equalisation policy is remarkable and a credit to the club hierarchy. Their win/loss record in the past 7 years is amazing, do you know the exact numbers Unka? Very impressive group of players and I think they will be there or thereabouts again next year

still wondering why Harry Taylor signed on for another three-five years then....thought he may have jumped ship with the Geelong boat springing a leak.....perhaps Harry knows something we don't.....still think Geelong have some good youngsters in their squad which will keep them competitive in the forseeable future....

Thanks for those kind words Mikeh. I know that between 2007 and 2012 the cats won 85 out of 100 matches ...85%, which is a record for any team over 100 games in AFL/VFL. Reason they managed to stay up there is apart from Ablett all the players played well UNDER what they could have got elswhere, putting the team first. I did read something in 2011, that the cats did not have one player in the highest 20 paid in the league. End of an era sure, but having waited for 44 years, fans have been payed back in spades

Maybe because he is happy where he is?
Maybe because he is loyal to the club that has given him so much?
Maybe because he is a genuinely nice bloke who is not a money hungry c*nt like a fair few of the modern day AFL players.

Unka2 I am not trying to wind you up. Did you think that the Geelong players panicked in the last five minutes, rather than try to have structured approach to getting the kick at goals which would have won you the game? Also, would the loss to Freo in Geelong in the final have had a detrimental impact on their psyche against Hawthorn?
