I agree with that sentiment, I have actually thought over the years that they should get the asylum seekers to build it, give them proper accom , food etc and limited $ and train them up to build it. The women can stay back at camp and prepare meals etc (although this may be considered sexist so give them the option to get on the tools too) and the children can be schooled etc in the area. By building the pipeline they will achieve instant citizenship and provide them with skills that we need. It would be better than a concentration camp surely! And they may get a feeling of ownership and pride afterwards. All of it done with their best interests at heart ofcourse

Fantastic idea IMO.

c.y.oconner built a 500km pipeline with no machinery back in the 1800's. and guess what, even back then the pollies bagged him for wasting public money to the point where he committed suicide.

even way back then we had idiots running things.

how can a man like c.y.oconner have such a vision with literally no gear, and build something that is still used 130 years later. and todays governments with all available resources cannot work out a similar pipeline solution. i agree this is an urgent situation and it should have been a priority ahead of the stadium. when will they ever get it right

O'Connor took his own life on 10 March 1902 by shooting himself while riding his horse into the water at a beach south of Fremantle. He took his own life because he was accused of many offences, such as foolhardiness and waste of public money.
Colin committs the same offences maybe we should lend him a horse and a glock

I find it funny that a pipeline could pretty much solve all of our water issues, yet they threaten us with building another $1billion desal plant :/

Far out mate you will have all the Greenies, do gooders, civil libertarians, Rudd supporters and Swan42 all over you shortly. Imagine a good idea like that even being considered.

Imagine the horror of actually being asked to work to pay your way. I believe you might even consider voting Liberal at the next Election. Your starting to think like one.

I am led to believe it is going to happen yolo. Now lets have a look....3 desal plants (at this point of time) costing billions and then the billions to keep them running....a pipeline would have been a better option. Then just to demonstrate the stupidity of previous governments, there was a suggestion that when the Dampier to Peth gas line was put in, it would have been possible to put another line next to it and plug it off for future use. No votes in that!!

I think it is far more likely for us to have a foot of snow on Christmas Day this year than Swandog voted Liberal.

It is ridiculous how backwards our government is. Not just on this issue, but plenty of others too. For example the fact that mining companies are allowed to outsource portables etc from China because it is cheaper than making them in Aus. How about our fucking retarded government tax the shit out of outsourced stuff like this so it is not financially viable, therefor Australian businesses can survive. But noooo, lets let the big companies that are raping and pillaging our nation get away with it.
