After reading something abut the AFL where they admitted it is NOT about the game, it is more EVENT based.

How very true... Anzac Day Dreamtime Queens birthday Big freeze country week gather round pride round...ta get the drift.

But like horse racing 100,000 plus at melb cup..and gazillions at derby day and cox plate.

Then  reverted back 3000 ( if that) at a race meet every other saturday.

So 45,000 watch the eags at Optus ...then 350 watch the eags ressies !

WAFL/VFL ressies are for people who know footy IMHO, they have knowledge of the GAME going back decades, and generally ya can have a decent convo about the game.

Yeah i watch a lot of AFL...BUT the pantomine does my head in at times.

I thought that the Dockers did a great job with the ANZAC stuff the other night. It was integrated into the pregame and the breaks but it didnt take anything away from the game itself

Not knocking the Anzac day game as such...more the ad nausem "event based" rather than the actual SPORT..which happens "neary" every week

Been like that for a while now, more about the event and to say you have been there on one of these days. Boxing Day Test a classic example, a lot there never been to a cricket game in life.
