Why is that folk can leave the country without adequate travel insurance and the expect others to bail them out!

Perhaps it should be no travel insurance no exit or visa!

Yeah, I know a lot of countries introduced no insurance no entry policy just after covid, but think it might of faded.

Btw did anyone see the EU is introducing a paid visa pre-entry soon.

I think some people think they have it on their credit card purchase and then find out that they haven't. Can anyone let us know how the credit card insurance works - or is it a myth?

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

If you have a Gold MasterCard with the Commonwealth Bank there is travel insurance available but it's like any other. You have to fill in your details including disclosure about any pre-existing conditions etc and your itinerary. Yes I think it's free or was back then when I last travelled overseas in 2017. Underwritten by Allianz. I need a holiday.

Not a myth at all , and I have used it for many years and claimed on it..paid out no worries.

Depends on your bank or card and the policy, I have Mastercard and the original way it worked was as long as you bought your airline tickets on it, you were covered for the trip.

Now you don't need to do that, you simply register online the dates you are travelling, and you are covered, if you forget to register you do not have it. ( I actually forget to register on my last trip - first time I had done that - but nothing went wrong )

The more premium the card the better the policy.

The Mrs has some other set up with RAC, she pays a once off fee to RAC and its a 12 month policy , you have complete cover for every trip over the year.

I have used it to TFAF. Like others have said you need to register which is what most people don't know, and as long as you have paid for some of your holiday via credit card it covers you. Used that recently for a 9-week holiday in South America, didn't need to claim but it covered me for more than if i got travel insurance through a private company. I bank with ANZ and as others have pointed out it was covered by alliance
