still not sure I'll be a viewer
saw his first game Shastri just tore him a new bum , it was hard to watch , but I'd not seen anyone turn the pill like that
well in Australia anyway
I stayed up to watch an experienced England side stacked with pro's who bashed spinners for bread & butter
and that ball
even Benaud was lost for any speech at all
and the turn just prodigious turn
even Gooch wouldn't risk it and he was brutal on slows
and so it went
the biggest (legal) turner of a red leather blob we've ever seen
pity about all the rest but he was a human and fallible
guess it was part of that ride piece of the engine

Don't care about the laws being changed to suit chuckers , they just got away with cheating to try beat the best
708 wickets bowling legally is everything
in an era where bending the rules is now commonplace

Rest in Peace Warna - no cricketer will ever again cause such utter pandemonium within batting line-ups ever again

Yep, I'll always remember where I was, living in Victoria at the time in a rental in Carnegie, when he bowled "that ball".

As Richie said "And he's done it. He started off with the most beautiful delivery. Gatting has absolutely no idea..."

Perfectly summed up.

And yes, biggest (legal) turner of a cricket ball ever.

Everyone rightly remembers Warnie's "Ball Of The Century" to Gatting at Old Trafford Manchester in 1993.
But I always remember that devastating flipper he had in that era until he busted his shoulder in the late 90s.
He must have knocked over every great batsman at that time either bowled or had them plumb lbw with that flipper that he seemingly landed on a dime back then.

One of his finest moments was the 1999 World cup semi final against South Africa. When he came on the Saffers were 0-50 chasing just over 200 and seemingly cruising. In the space of a couple of overs he took 3 for basically 0 and turned the whole match on its head. One of the best 1 day matches ever which finished at 3am our time!
