I sometimes write stuff and then delete in fear of the vitriol that will follow but this time I will leave it and put up with it!

It seems to me that we (the politicians and others ) are trying so hard to appease groups in our community and one in particular which I am starting to find very annoying.

It seems that it is McGowans and Morrisons fault for this that another when surely the individuals or groups responsible need to take that responsibility for their own welfare and well being. Whether it be being vaccinated or not that is your choice and it your choice to suffer the consequences. The fact that you live remotely or in the suburbs if the vaccine is made available then it is your choice to have it or not! And yes I understand the issues of remote folk and their access BUT if it is available then you make a choice. You either believe the councils or managers or the religious freaks spewing misinformation, your choice.

It seems that it is my fault being a white australian for the many of the issues that befall not just the 3% but every other group. Issues like not being able get my family into the country despite the fact that they have no entitlement for entry and so on ( I got tired of listing them).

We live in a very lucky country but at some stage folk need to start taking responsibility for their own outcomes, they need to start living by what most would call a respectable code of conduct and behaviour that treats ALL folk with equal degrees of respect and courtesy and stop blaming others!

I am not perfect, I have many flaws as you all can attest, I support EPFC despite what some think, I vote labour, I was in the CPSU until they told me I couldn't when I became a manager, I try to stick to the road rules and be courteous to others on the roads despite the increasing number of numpties and bullies oh and I cannot watch cricket in any of its formats but i do like Eminen's music.

I agree with a lot of what you say Grump.  I think we are losing track of what is right and what is not.  As a tradesman, I used to be a member of the union.  However, I got sick of losing endless dollars over pissant strikes for no return, so spent most of my work life in management positions.  And I like all forms of men’s cricket and like a lot of of Marilyn Manson’s music. 😬

Well said Grump and I’ll point my finger at self entitled Aboriginal folk who constantly complain and blame the white man (which I’m sure you are referring to) for everything and take absolutely no fucken responsibility themselves. Oh but we can’t say that can we?

Imagine if I write a comment like that on a story in The West? No chance it will get displayed. Or if I attempt to say it on 6PR? If the jock doesn’t hit the dump button the producer will.

If it was a group of white teenage boys breaking into houses along the Swan river and two of them swam into the river to evade police and drowned, there wouldn’t have been any coronial enquiry and the parents blaming police for their sons deaths. And now the entitled Aboriginal people want to sue the police. They are an absolute joke, not all of them, but a lot of them are an absolute joke. No matter how much you do for them it’s never enough. I’m sick of it.

My underlying feeling is about balance between how we deal with issues and groups. There is a need for all people to accept responsibility for the actions or lack thereof and not shift it to someone else unless circumstances outside their control place them in the position.

And now Ernie Dingo is getting death threats from both white and aboriginal people.  Apparently we aren’t allowed a personal opinion in today’s world.

I'm hoping someone can help me out here as I'm genuinely confused as to why someone would take exception to something that happened a while ago. Alex Hales the English cricketer went to a fancy dress party several years ago where the theme was to dress as your favourite entertainer. Apparently he chose Tupac and dressed accordingly which included making his face black. He's now come out and apologised saying it was inappropriate and disrespectful to do so. What I can't figure out is why if you want to dress up as someone, you can't include the colour of their skin? Surely it's a compliment that Hales considers Tupac to be his favourite entertainer and in his efforts to look like the rapper, he also replicated his skin colour. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with that and why Hales feels the need to apologise as I just don't get it?

BC I cannot tell you abt that instance but I accept that there are things in history that occurred and are regrettable but to keep on raising things forever and day beats the crap outta me.

Also this not just abt the 3% it is abt the general community seeking to be given for past misdemeanours, the refugees who chose to not to abide by the rules, abt unlawful gangs wanting to paint different pictures abt their behaviours and so on!

on reflection I would contribute the following

• We need to keep in mind that in some instances trauma suffered by groups over a long period of time can play out over many generations even though conditions have somewhat improved for that group. For example through my work I have met survivors of the Stolen generation and the impacts and consequences of the policy are also greatly felt by their children and grandchildren. 
• In a general sense I think people have lost the ability to see others point of view. We read material that aligns with our opinions and some of us are motivated to join groups (cults?) which spout out information that we want to hear. This creates echo chambers where even established facts do not sway people. Millions of people in the US still believe that the election was stolen from Trump.
• Some people go as far as spruiking violence against others who dare to have a different view to them, this is fuelled by social media where you are flamed or trolled if you dare to express an alternative view. We have forgotten the art of debate and instead denigrate peoples character if they don't see the world the way that we do.
• Having said that many individuals have had their faith in legitimate science and medicine undermined by celebrities and some politicians who prefer to peddle conspiracy theories to take advantage of peoples understandable anxieties about the pandemic and climate change

Its a complex situation but I think that if you look around the world the pandemic has increased the gap between the haves and the have nots and any government that is totally focused on economic outcomes at the expense of some sort of social goal is heading for problems.
I have a lot more thoughts but that will do for now.

Pfft good luck with that one, the cops were just doing their jobs. Who is paying for the law suit?? obviously not the parents 

Mikeh, I understand your points and I have had 40 years experience working in the federally funded welfare agency in some of the garden spots of WA. So it is not without some understanding from a non indigenous or non refugee etc standpoint but I think that at some point responsibility rests with the individual and the organisations funded to work on their behalf, the responsibility is not mine!
