My wife just got back from Freo and parked near the Point Street carpark. She said in space of being there for 2 minutes there was an old drunk woman asleep on the footpath, 3 blokes punching on in an alley way and some guy reportedly passed out or dead in a public loo across the street. The coppers came and just shrugged it off and said that's Freo for you. Go figure.

Pathetic response BC and a terrible indictment on Dawsons leadership of the current WA Police and quality of work they are doing, I would be firing off a letter of complaint to the Commissioners Office just so its on record.

In a way the renaming of the square is sort of appropriate in a twisted way, as the local indigenous are now the only ones that frequent the area, very different to when I grew up in the 60s and 70s when it was a hive of activity of shoppers, families and workers of all backgrounds having breaks.

I thought it would be worthy of having a thread dedicated to all thing's Fremantle, there is a lot of debate about the decline of Fremantle and homelessness and the devastating effect on retail. Have your say here. I'll start another one dedicated to City of Perth.

Does anyone use the new parking apps? I have found it very convenient when I need a pitstop in Fremantle using the small carpark opposite The Esplanade Hotel. It is called PayStay. You download the app, fill in your info including your car rego, make and model and I think you have to tip in 5 bucks minimum to start with and an set it to automatically debit your credit card when the balance gets down to say 2 bucks. The parking is quite cheap and I think a brilliant way to go, just have to remember to press Stop in the app when you leave otherwise it will keep the timer going.

Only thing is why do different councils use different apps? Why can't they all use the same app, would make it a hell of a lot easier.
