It really is scary. Some meth head beats the crap out of someone and when he goes to court says sorry, I can’t remember. What do they get? What does the victim and family get? FFS.

DD wrote: I just found that out last night for the first time in my life. I've had my car broken into a few times and one stolen but last night I had a terrifying experience when i was woken by my doorbell ringing at 12.09am. At first I thought maybe a i had a really good night sleep for a change and it was morning. My room is pretty dark even during the day as I have a roller shutter.

But it was some maniac ringing my door bell repeatedly and banging on the door and shouting for me to open the door. Fortunately I have triple lock security doors all around the house and I had 4 security cameras installed after I moved in a few years ago. I was able to see this guy on camera and phoned the cops. My heart was racing. I reckon this guy was probably on meth. it looked to be like he had a large bottle he was carrying, maybe he was sniffing something out of that.

I thought what do i do if this guy manages to get in? We all run through that scenario right? You think baseball bat, big kitchen knife? Well I just thought about how the hell i could make an escape if he gets in so I opened the vertical blinds and had the remote ready in my hand to lift the roller shutter if he got in, then jump over the fence.

Fortunately the cops turned up within about 5 - 10 minutes of calling them and I showed them footage and they took photos and got a pretty good description out there and about an hour after they left they rang me to say they found him and got him in custody so I can sleep easy tonight, yeh right.

It wasn't obvious at first on the footage but when he went to smash the video camera's i could see a bloody tomahawk in his hand. Frightening stuff. You can never have too much security these days I can vouch for that.

Thats pretty scary DD. Glad that they managed to arrest the guy and he didn't get into your house. Hope you have a better nights sleep tonight.
I agree that meth is a real issue in society because people who are on it have a capacity for erratic and dangerous behaviour.

Thanks for all for the kind comments, it definitely helps to talk about these things and I also do it to raise others awareness. I knocked on a neighbours door yesterday, she was quite shocked because she said she is a light sleeper but didn't hear a thing and a cop car was parked outside her unit with headlights on. She is a tenant and has no security camera's so I advised her to get on her landlords back to get some installed. She said she might get her father install some sort of wireless system. I said anything is better than nothing.

Got the camera's replaced yesterday morning and an extra one installed in the garage. Haven't heard from the cops. I asked them if they want me to go to the local police station to make a statement, they said no we will ring you tomorrow. Haven't heard from them yet. Already got some other ideas if the same situation happens again like a piercing alarm outside and some blinding LED lights that would drive them away. Already have an alarm and thought about setting that off but that goes off inside the house as well so it would drive me mad. Occasionally I accidently set it off and it is deafening and piercing.

I’ve been very lucky since I’ve moved to Perth, but things will change. I’ve been getting pricks knocking off my bird baths and other bits n pieces from the front garden the last six or so months. Probably kids. Think I better follow your lead and set up cameras and spotlights before they get braver and start checking my back yard out.

I can put you on to a guy sharkie who is very reasonable and knowledgeable, in fact now he is doing contract work for the RAC and they wouldn't hire cowboys. Send me a pm if you're interested. The latest cameras and hard drive have smart detection, basically means will only notify you if a human is detected not a cat roaming around.

A couple of years ago we got broken into, 10 grand worth of Laptops / mobile phones / my wife’s jewelry / her mother’s jewelry and a rummaged bedroom. Got the bitch cc tv. The cops did not attend. Went to the cop shop with the video and the lazy copper said, there is no video of her walking down your driveway. We could identify a blue pillow case that she used to carry the booty and a brown towel that she used to break in the window. We had film of her trying to break into Pete’s house next door, the dogs scared her off. Yea sure, the cops are busy, they were not interested. Tracked the phones to an address and the cops told us to piss off and not to try and get the phones back. To this day, not one phone call from the cops. My daughter’s boyfriend put an app on her phone to track her and to monitor her messages, I went to the cops, they didn’t give a fuck. We need more local vans patrolling the streets, even more council rangers patrolling the streets and the right when somebody that steps over to your property and cause mayhem at your front door or your back yard , you have the right not to uses reasonable force, but use full force to your ability to protect your family, yourself and your property.

Sorry to hear what happened DD.Lucky you have good security protocols in place.Meth heads are totally devoid of reality and rational thinking. You will find the police are very quick to respond to violent home invasion.
There afraid of another 1990's Ballajura.Where vigilantes drive the streets looking for trouble makers. Then beating them up.After massive breakins+theft and voilent robberys occured.
Morley/Dianella have had there troubles with these types of characters. With an enormous amount of rear strata homes. Not seen from the main roads. When i ever see a dodgy character lingering around.Im straight on to the police.

About ten years ago, a fellow I know and some of the members on this forum would know him was bashed at the Carlisle railway station. There was no provocation from this fellow. There was video footage of the perpetrator, he was clearly identified. This fellow defended himself and threw the perpetrator off the platform. This fellow carried along his journey. He made a complaint to the police. Still to this day, even though there is video of the incident, no arrest has been made. This fellow was going home after watching his beloved Perth Demons play. His name is Grassy.

I never new that happened to Simon (Grassy) great guy and one of only 3-4 of League time keepers for Perth in 121 year history. Amazing effort by the Dees. Large government agencies (Australian Labor party/Green party or American Democrat) don't care about this sort of thing. They encourage it - It leads to more government and more jobs for friends. Friends on the right side of course.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
