Let’s all wait until we see what the report actually states shall we. From what I have read laddies its smoke and mirrors. Basically says they didn’t respond well enough at times. I assume to their then 12 year old Members treatment of Goodes etc. If there are specifics then let’s get the noose and a sturdy branch but until then, Eddie is within his rights to defend his
Great club. 18 recommendations so surely one references a specific moment in time.

Oops I thought that it said that the Collingwood Football Club has a culture of Systemic Racism but we can wait and see if Eddiewood can do a Donald and call it fake news or it was rigged.

Have to be the most embarrassing out of touch statement by McQuire in his long history of moronic commentary.

In any other area of endevour, the head honcho, in this case the buck stops with Eddie, the boss would fall on his sword and step down. All this has happened under his watch and he is ultimately responsible. They need a clean sheet going forward to have any semblence of appearing to take this seriously, Eddie has to go, but alas I dont think his ego will let him, shades of a former US president.

The question for me is - will it change Collingwood and its obvious flaws even if he left now, later or never! Zebras cannot change their stripes. Also will this see an increase in membership

McGuire is the problem and as long as he is the president of Collingwood they cannot address the obvious issues they have. To describe yesterday as a "proud day" for the club is "Trumpist" language at its most delusional. The fact that they were dragged screaming to that press conference because someone had leaked the report is indicative of the clubs defensive and reactive mentality. They would have preferred to bury it away and not addressed it at all.

To start unpacking the issues that are in the report they firstly have to acknowledge their past stretching back to Mcalister, the Nicky Winmar incident, Damien Monkhurst and Michael Long, Adam Goodes, Hertier Lumumba etc etc and actually admit that the club has a problem, all we heard yesterday was more denial and platitudes so the culture won't change a bit.

Apparently Collingwood have their AGM tonight so it will be interesting to see how the members react to all this.

On Tuesday night at the club’s virtual Annual General Meeting, McGuire admitted he was wrong to say that. He later said sorry “that my error has acted as a distraction from the importance of the findings on racism”.
“Yesterday, a report we fully intended to make public appeared prematurely in the media,” McGuire said.
“From there, we hastily consulted a number of people to clear a path to discuss the report publicly, and over the course of an hour we answered every question.
“But in my opening, I got it wrong. I said it was a proud day for Collingwood, and I shouldn’t have.
“I meant to sincerely acknowledge not only the enormous work the club had done, especially Jodie Sizer and Peter Murphy, in bringing this report together. But also the work of all our staff and their preparedness to take a deep and uncompromising look into our past as a club.
“I did not mean we were proud of past incidents of racism and the hurt that it caused, I am not. It’s been interpreted widely that way and I regret that deeply.
“I’m sorry that my error has acted as a distraction from the importance of the findings on racism and the work that lies ahead. Under the pressure of the day, the use of the word proud was wrong.
“We may not be able to undo conduct of the past but we can certainly make the future balanced and inclusive for all people. We will set an example and eventually lead by example, aiming to be best practice in this area.”
McGuire added he wanted to help oversee the implementation of the report’s recommendations over 2021.

Yeah nah Eddie. This reform needs to be overseen by a new president and board. Tonight's script was written for him no doubt.
He is the Donald Trump of the AFL, people in the industry are too scared to cross him including Gil the CEO.
