Around 12,000 years ago at the end of the last Ice Age.Global Sea levels rose around 100 metres. Isolating mainland Australia from Tasmania and Papua New Guinea.
This isolated 3 different populations of Thylacines-Tasmanian Tigers in PNG-Australia and Tasmania.Around 2000 years ago the species died on mainland Australia. With the introduced Dingo an animal of similar size blamed for killing the Thylacine. Aboriginal cave paintings of the Thylacine have been found all over mainland Au.
Tasmania before European colonisation in 1803 has a population of around 5000 Thylacines. The dingo never made it to Tasmania but our ancestors did.A government sponsored cull from 1888 too 1909 had 2160 skins handed in for 1 pound a fur.Private culls of the marsupial dog-cat-kangeroo animal had another 2000 killed.Benjamin died in Beaumauris Zoo Hobart on September 7th 1936.That was the last known of the species..
About 2 weeks ago the PNG singing dog was found in PNG..Believed to have been extinct in Png for over 50 years.
The clouded Leaopard was also found in Thailand. Believed to have disappeared around 100 years ago.
Expeditions have previously been sent to PNG-West Papua .However the hilly rainforests make searching very difficult.
Pictures have been shown to villagers of a Kelpie sized animal. That was nocturnal ,Honey Brown in colour with black stripes down there back. With a Kangaroo tail, wolf's body and cat looking head with Kangaroo nose. With a rear facing pouch..Believed to be the smartest marsupial to ever live. And even highly elusive to people back in the day in Tasmania.Who slept in caves during the daytimeam.A carnivore like the Tasmanian Devil and Kroll..
On seeing the pictures the villagers say Dogsema. And point up the hill and tell stories.Of livestock being attacked by the Thailacine..
The location and source of the sightings have. Been kept confidential waiting for confirmation from experts .Not much in the media yet.

Would be no surprise if said sightings were in the affirmative.
There's been big cat sightings this year in the UK, New Zealand's north island and a few sightings in the eastern states of victoria and NSW Australia. In the victorian sighting, the images clearly show a black coloured puma type animal. The south west region of WA is very well known for previous big cat sightings over the years.
For PNG to report big cat sightings shouldn't be any big news. With a lot of thick uninhabited jungle areas in the country, would be perfect habitat for many animals.

That's interesting WAG.Have heard that before.According to Aboriginal rock art.7 sub species of the Thailacine once habitated Australia.
Europeans only seen the smallest variation of this marsupial. However the largest of these 7 sub species was called Dixon Thailacine. A big black cat looking animal that could hunt a teenage indigenous person, according to legend.
British Botanists Eric Guiler also thought they habitated Cape York Peninsula in the 1860,s.With eye witness reports.

Are you sure it wasn't a big blue & white cat with 26 or 35 stamped on its back?
