Travel within WA being restricted between the different regions.
Apparently will be in place when everyone wakes up Wednesday morning.
The Premier said regional boundaries would mirror those of the state's Regional Development Commissions. For example, Mandurah and Perth areas would be combined into one region, due to their close proximity.
Up to $50,000 fine could be issued if people ignore the rules.
Exemptions will exist for essential travel and on compassionate grounds.

Given WA is about as big as most of western Europe, makes sense to divvy up like separate countries. Last I heard there were 6 cases outside the Metro area. Just guessing but I'd bet most of those would be people returning from that disgraceful NSW cruise ship debacle.

People will not be barred from leaving their regions if it is essential.
Exemptions include travel for essential work purposes, delivering essential goods, health and emergency services and other essential requirements.
Exemptions on compassionate grounds also.

I applaud Mark McGowan and his colleagues with everything I can muster - this man has shown himself to be visionary & what a real leader is all about.
These measures in a massive land size will save thousands of innocent lives and protect WA into an uncertain future if successful which I have confidence in by the way.

Well done mate I wish you were the Prime Minister

To all those NSW inbred maggots out there - it's a pity you are illiterate retards with not even one live brain cell in both of your ugly backwater hick heads because you would be able to read just how to assist & protect your fellow human colleagues

From the Premier....

I'm sure you've heard me say it before - travelling around Western Australia is a world-class experience.
From the unique landscapes of the Kimberley and Pilbara to the gourmet paradise of the South West, and everything in between, our State has so much to see and do.
But, sadly, this just isn't the time for it.
We've made the extremely difficult and completely unprecedented decision to shut down travel between WA's regions.
From midnight Tuesday, restrictions will be placed on travel within the entire State of Western Australia.
Western Australians will not be permitted to leave their regional boundary.
It’s absolutely vital every Western Australian understands – you cannot travel within WA. It must stop immediately.
Police have the power to enforce these restrictions if necessary, and fines of up to $50,000 can be issued.
To be clear, those are: the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid-West, Goldfields-Esperance, Wheatbelt, Great Southern and South West.
Due to their proximity and interconnected nature, Perth and Peel will be treated as one region.
The health and safety of people in regional Western Australia must be our priority.
Exemptions will apply for, among other things, essential services and workers, including health and emergency services; people living in ‘border communities’, who may not have access to groceries or supplies within their region; employment purposes; medical reasons; transport of essential goods and some compassionate grounds.
Additional restrictions to remote Aboriginal communities were announced by Aboriginal Affairs Minister Ben Wyatt this week, to provide extra protection to these vulnerable communities.
If you are currently away from home - you need to come back. Now.
If you were planning a trip - you cannot go.
But I have one important request - don't cancel your bookings with our regional hotels, tours or other providers - postpone them instead.
This won't last forever, so let's do what we can to make sure those businesses are still there once it is over.
That next trip will just be so much sweeter.

The premier gave an updated media release on the radio this morning re: WA travel restrictions.
Any-one out there listening at the time? I only caught the tail end of it and missed most of what he said.

Yes McGowan and his cabinet have shown some real leadership after a bit of a slow start but thats forgivable given so many mixed messages at the beginning. The NSW govt could learn a thing or 2 from what WA and TAS have done, go hard and shorten the term of the virus, WA seems to be doing better than most states with low per-capita infections but medical resources are limited and you can bet that most of those national resources will be heading to Qld & NSW, 2 states that appeared to have ignore or totally miss-manage the situation, Vic Govt has done pretty well but having to deal with segments of the population who just wont take it seriously. Just yesterday, my Melbourne based bro messaged me to say that on his only weekly outing to go grocery shopping, he passed several cafes that were chocablok with young people, sitting 4 to a table enjoying their day by disrespecting all those who are doing the right thing. The latest craze over east now seems to be running around spitting at people, what the phark!!!! Bloody degenerates, they should be charged with assault. These numpties are distracting the coppers and other essential services from doing what they need to do. So glad to be in WA.
