Closing the borders along with mandatory self isolation of returning residents was a no brainer weeks ago. I catch 4 buses and 2 trains every day to get to and from work so I'm high risk when you also factor in my age and some health niggles....so I'm going to start working from home as of tomorrow.

Be interesting to see what will happen to people like me. I would love to work from home, but 20% of my job requires me to go out on the floor.

Spot on Mate, I am really angry about this,

That clown Sneakers got told by the AMA two weeks ago to close our state broders and he came out with some dribble about it being unconstitutional, gutless wonder.

Meanwhile Tassie, NT, and SA beat him to it. Finally does it late - McGowans is weak prick. He has pretty much given us the highest per capita infection rate in the country, bearing in mind the advantage we had as the most isolated city in the world which he gave up in a puff of smoke...hardly surpising hes a eastern stater and doesnt have a grip on the WA independent mind set, stuff Canberra, Charlie Court would of looked after WA first.

Bazza WA's infection rate isnt good I will admit but pretty sure NSW have 5 times ours atm and about 3 & half times our population, god knows what their real numbers will be after that cruise ship fiasco, not having lockouts in their first week of that neanderthal rugby comp they play and continue to play over there, not to mention the Bondi Beach fark you to social distancing regulations authority put in place.

Being isolated as we are from the rest of the country hopefully works in our favour in slowing the up curve as long as we ALL do the right thing, but we should have as I posted at the time closed the borders weeks ago!

With respect, I think too many are selling both the Federal and State Govts short.
There have been 1315 reported infections and 7 deaths in Aust ie O.5 of 1% of all infections. Being pretty well contained at this point and measures put in place over the weekend will only strengthen the fight.
As for WA we have closed our borders and our isolation, probably the best protected in the world really confirms us as the lucky state and country.
At times like this it is too easy to criticise the men who hold the proverbial buck.
They listen to and act on the the advice of the health and scientific and other experts as they should.
I venture to say we are doing the very best under the circumstances but we all should take this seriously...get off the beach when you are told, adhere to the precautions and restrictions put in place by Govts, maintain proper hygiene habits, stop the selfish hoarding buying and show some respect to other people.
The true Aussie culture is on trial here.

I think that would be all very well except in Mcgowans case he was told TWO weeks ago by the AMA and a letter sent which was kept secret until leaked about what should be done, which he then ignored and said was impossible, thats not just deceitful and incompetent its resignation material.

With the exception of NSW I reckon we would be second per capita.

Well said smokey although I'm with Bazza here. ScoMo could and should have acted a lot sooner in closing Australia's borders once Singapore, HK and Korea did likewise. They've been through episodes like SARS and know what to do and we should have followed their lead. Locally, McGowan has been pushed for quite a while by the medical fraternity to be more proactive and to leave it to last weekend is pretty ordinary and will cost lives for sure. Hindsight is a marvellous thing but our pollies at all levels have not been as diligent as they could have been.
