I see the new Tasmanian Premier is a former Swan Districts WAFL player.
Peter Gutwein (1 game- 1986) has replaced Will Hodgeman who stepped down last week in the top job in Tassie.
From my memory he was a pretty tough at it type in the mould of a Peter Hodyl who came over for just the 1 season from Launceston.

BH from memory there was a bit of a story when the Premier came to play footy in Wa.
He was supposed to play for Subiaco. And a former Subiaco coach Peter Daniel.Told him he would not get a game at Subi.He was a midsize player covered in tattoos.
Think he departed the club pre-1987 when all Wafl player contracts where massively reduced. From memory 1986 was a horror year for injured players at Swans.Gutwein was one of those.

there have been a lot of good footballers come out of Tasmania with german surnames, he is another. SD had a few of teutonic origin in those years, big craig hoyer, Paul Werner, coming immeiately to mind. I would be interested to know what Peter Daniel thought of the rapid imprpvement of Subi in 1984?

Yeh well. We have such an abundance of 2m players, we can just give them away.
I understand we swapped him for manuals on
- train harder than anyone else for success.
- don't develop players when you can just pinch them from other clubs
- how to turn over 50% less than Swans and still afford everyone.

Not sure exactly what this has to do with the new Tasmanian Premier and former SD-WAFL player Peter Gutwein BC?

Yeah he did have a fair few tatts GTR which wasnt as common back on the WAFL footy ground in 1986 as it is with todays youth mate.
