With less than 4 mins to play and behind by 8 points the brains trust at Swans decide that the way to win is do as we did all day and make sure we have 18 players in Peelmantles half of the ground.
So when Dylan Smith and Nathan Ireland dared to to remain in the forward line out comes the runner and directs all players to go into the back half.
Notte ignores the instructions and yells at Ireland to go into our 50m arc.
Swans created a turnover and belt the ball forward to our sole representative Ireland who battles and scrambles a goal.
Back to the Middle and we go forward again with Notte then scrambling a goal and presto we win by 4 points.
At least Tony knows the idea of the game is to score.

Classic by Notte - that coach must be on thin ice.

you know what they will argue? it was the pressure of the 16 17 players defending which caused the goal, great coaching.

He has won his last two games he is perfectly safe.

Tony as Captain/Coach TRSM?

Good to see our young side show some spirit at home and get another come from behind win late in the game against an afl reserves team, much like the wce game a fortnight ago where we got headed late but regained the lead this time we were behind virtually all game and kicked the 2 late goals to hit the front through never giving up which is a characteristic we probably didnt display early in the season which cost us 7 games by under 2 or 3 goals.
Young Beck continues to impress me with a few late intercept marks deep in defence showing good composure, Pasini was solid as a rock in his debut, Watson did some good things also on debut and got a win over big brother Tobe to boot and More was solid especially late in the game with some good defensive footy and then rebound.

I didnt get to the game yesterday but it sounded like a pretty dour contest with very limited scoring opportunities. Great that Notte kicked the winner, he has been a shining light for us in what has been a dark season. Funny enough we still have a mathematical chance of avoiding the wooden spoon if we can beat Claremont next week. Unlikely but possible.

Always is when you play that mob Mike with their Ross Lyon/Fremantle boring defensive game plan with huge numbers back making it difficult to score against but because they dont score big themselves they always leave the opposition in with a chance if you can take your chances late in the game which we were able to.

Thats a very insightful comment BH on the alignment model. Playing for Peel is really just a training run to practice Freo's and Lyon's broken defensive game plan. It must be frustrating for the non-aligned players and even coaches to front up each week knowing they have no say on how they're going to play.

Funny thing is BC they have some very good young players coming through their Colts and Reserves but they will be stifled by that Lyon/Fremantle defensive game plan were creativity, skill and flair are frowned upon as it is all about the defensive structure oh and of course 'giving effort'!

bh, bc, beautifully put. I suppose Ross's claim to fame will be his two premierships at PA. It is good that SD has shown some improved form, a few more wins could have been had this year with a wee bit of luck and more aggressive play. It never seems to occur to coaches, the number of goals which could have been scored had forwards been left in their positions.

Well done Swans, 2 good wins in recent weeks against the imposters.
Hopefully you can hand the wooden spoon to EP or EF.
