Final score Swans 12 - 2 def Claremont 8 - 8.
Goals Swans. Hampson 3, Simpson 3, Kohlmann 2, Maguire 2, Fullgrabe1 and Garcia 1.

This game was all over by half time with Swans leading 8- 1 to 0 - 3. It took till the 7 minute mark of the third for the Tigers first goal. Swans kicking, marking and tackling had the Tigers under enormous pressure resulting in many turnovers. Second half not as good as the first but still a lot to like about how they played.

My best player in a very good team effort was Gualt. Other standouts were Notte, Riggio,Stephens, Simpson, Turner, Graydon and Warwick Wilson. Could not name one player who did not put in a solid game. New recruits Hampson, Simpson and Kohlmann look like great pickups and licked 8 of our 12 goals.

One injury concern for next week is JesseGlass-McCasker who rolled and ankle in the first half and did not come back onto the ground. Hopefully this was not too bad.

Only saw 2 half of the reserves and Claremont easily beat us 14-16 to 7-9.

How many regular best 18 players did Claremont roll out?

Claremont did have 4 or 5 regulars play reserves, Swans did have a couple. Claremont will be stronger with those players but for me it was how Swans used the ball and developed their teamwork.
Who knows what will happen next week but at least it gives some hope that we might not be as bad as most pundits are predicting.

With Jack Bradshaw and Jake Murphy returning to a midfield that already boasts Jye Bolton and Kane Mitchell (3 Sandovers between them) and Hardisty and a potent forward line with Tom Lee and Ian Richardson I think they are the team to beat this year.

I think George Hampson will be a good pick up for you guys.

Declan Mountford is a key for us this year. If he becomes a quality wafl midfielder then that really elevates our midfield to a formidable level. Was used as a run with player in his few North Melbourne games, not sure what his attacking side of his game is like.
