new coach means a fresh start for everybody so will see how it unfolds, Crowley and Bennell are losses for sure, in our best 10 players last year when on the park.

It will be interesting where Adam Faulkner ends up mid-season.

Are you suggesting that the new coach may not be as tolerant of Adam's skill errors as Harding was Swan42?

I was perhaps more neutral mikeh insofaras all Swans's supporters know what you get with Faulkner (the good and the bad) so I wait with interest whether the new coach thinks that the good outweighs the bad. I honestly don't know what he will do and of course all bets are off when a new coach comes in.

Personally I hope the new coach indicates to Faulkner the value he is to the cub but he also teaches him to play within the parameters of his abilities. If he does that I am happy for Faulkner to play league; if Faulkner doesn't learn then he should spend a significant amount of time in the ressies.

Perth will be licking their chops re getting off the bottom of the ladder.

Does anyone know if Doc Blakely is considering playing again? Heard he’s been seen on the track..

Would be great if Doc Blakely pulled on the boots again this year DW. I keep looking at this thread regularly to see if anyone might have some news of a recruit or at least some ex Swans players who left when Harding was there coming back to have a try with the new coach, but it has been very quiet all summer. With the loss of Ames, Crowley, Ellis and Bennell, thats a lot of experience going out and there appears to be no apparent replacement for any of them. I know that there are some very promising young players but they need the core of experienced guys around them to provide support and guidance.
Swans best dozen players in terms of experience and ability at WAFL level are
1. Blight
2. Ellard
3. Ugle
4.Rogers
5. Banfield
6. Gault
7. Riggio
8. Howard
9. Notte
10. Cary
11. Faulkner
12. Turner

There may be some debate about some of the other players being in the list but IMO these are the best 12, this group would stand up pretty well against any other top 12 in the WAFL. The problem for Swans is that the experience thins out pretty rapidly after that so any prolonged absence through injury of any of these top 12 is going to have a massive impact on the team and its ability to compete. The way things look at the moment, depth is going to be a real issue in the playing group this year. We just have to hope that guys like Jack Watson , Taryce Stewart, Brandon Erceg, Brody Sutton, Josh Cipro,Levi Ridley,Ethan Maguire, Chad Daniels, Mitch Mckenzie, Jacob Ness and others take another step up this year. I still live in hope that we might still have another season like 2014 where a group of experienced guys gelled beautifully with the up and comers and we made the finals that year.
On another note I have just seen Blaine Boekhurst's name on the list of senior players although I would assume once a player is delisted from an AFL club,he would automatically be added to the player list of his original club so this doesnt necessarily mean he is coming back to Swans.

You're right Tigerpoint. They are In no particular order. I think that I would rank Tony Notte as Swans best player actually because of his versatility
Riggio number 2, Ellard 3, Ugle 4 and Gault to round off my top 5.
