Sorry mikeh. I was logged on with the IPad and fat fingers of mine hit the delete button instead of the previous page button. I tried to stop the process mid stream but was unsuccessful in doing so. My sincere apologies, completely unintended and something I'm going to have to be very careful with as the system appears to be very unforgiving once I'm logged in.

No problems DW, I know what its like to hit the wrong button on a computer ;)

I went to the game today with a Perth supporter friend as I usually do. Halfway through the 2nd quarter he turned to me and said " Swans look like they don't want to win this game". Unfortunately I had to agree with him. Perth were making lots of skill errors but they were also making the required effort and showing the determination to force the ball forward and kick goals.

I hate to say it but I didn't see anywhere near the same effort from many of the Swans players. It was actually quite embarrassing to watch that as a supporter. Just to put this into some perspective we were playing a team that had been on the bottom of the ladder, flogged by teams like South and Peel over the last month so would have been lacking confidence coming into the game and were missing 2 rotations off their interchange for much of the game.

We should have been at least competitive and made it a tight finish and yet Perth ran out the game much better and probably deserved to win by more. I couldn't see much desperation in the Swans team and if often just appeared they were trying to limit the damage. Nobody put any pressure on Jones and Tropiano and they killed us out of the middle.

The only positives out of that shambles was the performances of the first gamers Sutton and Clarke and again young Logue showed his senior teammates a few things about desperation. I thought Nelson Ansey showed a bit up forward as well and should be persisted with up there.

All in all a dreadful day and if Swans continue to play with the lack of desire they showed today they will struggle to win another game this season. I'm not sure what Harding was saying on the ground after the game to the group but I hope he was reading his senior players the riot act. Of these guys only Freddie and Riggio put in 4 quarter efforts today.

No disrespect to Perth but they would have got done by 6-7 goals if they were playing anyone else but Swans. Putting Injuries and bad luck for the club this year aside we were terrible and made Perth look a lot better than they are. But good luck to them they manage to get off the bottom, temporarily I hope. The standard of the game today was horrible and not just a level down from AFL but two levels down and wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to pay $15 to watch it. Dark times indeed.
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Mike in hindsight (having not read the line ups in the paper) when I saw the Reserves boys run out & Alby plus 2 others in Rudy & Warwick I have been calling for to be playing League amongst them I should have walked out the gate got in my car and just driven home, as I left around the same time you did scratching my head at so many glaring errors from the SDFC both on and off the field!
Why on earth was Alby not playing League?
How does the match committee expect us to WIN GAMES by not picking even close to the best 22 each week injuries aside?
It is all well and good picking defensive forwards to try and lock the ball inside our half but with absolute pitiful goal returns of 9, 2, 6, 13, 8, 10, 8 so far this year you might think actually trying to kick at a minimum 15 goals in a match should be the required level and picking a forward line capable of completing such a tally!
Even at times switching things up with the 22 actually selected to try and give some enjoyment/excitement to some established players (not to mention the fans who are as bored as batshit watching this mistake ridden rubbish week after week) as watching Ames yesterday play probably his worst game in a 250 match career I am sure he wouldn't have minded a spell in the ruck or up forward.
The skill level amongst the majority of the group is at the lowest standard I have witnessed in 36 years of following us which is made to look even worse with the lowest work rate in the WAFL I have seen in a long long time!

BH I watched the last 10 minutes of the reserves game and I too was staggered to see Alby Dean running around. Especially given the loss of Elari it was a decision that I could not understand. Jacob Burnham is just not up to it I'm afraid, he turns the ball over far too much and doesn't create any play. I would rather have a half fit Riddoch in the team than Burnham because he is capable of doing some things that will get the team ( and supporters) excited.

Mike I have been absolutely flabbergasted at some of our match committee selections this season, has been almost as staggering as our atrocious skill level and complete lack of work rate ethic!

Grassy wrote: Is it a Disciplinary thing with Rudy?

Is that why he's missing out?

Or a question for you(to sort behind closed doors strategy wise) - does he not understand the matchday strategy Harding is employing?A man of Rudy's exciting play deserves better than today's style of play in footy.

Not sure if any of the players or supporters understand Hardings game plan at the moment. I think its the opposite to 'run and stun' something like "stumble and fumble". With regards to Riddoch, the coach needs to put some faith in him because he is just about the only player at the club capable of kicking freak goals or raising the excitement level of a game. I reckon Harding doesn't like him because he doesn't work hard enough when the opposition have the ball. If they could fix that up and get him motivated he would be in our best 22 week in, week out.

C'mon Rudy!You're an Excitement machine.

I got into trouble with Peter Ware in '86,blabbing about footy(he was a very private man as his missus warned me),but get him to have a word or two about how he went about his footy,as a team man and excitement machine.

Peter Ware is one of the funniest human beings I've ever met when he does come out of his shell :)
