For those interested, Swans won the league match today 12 - 6 to 8 - 7.

They also won the reserves 93 to 34 and lost the colts 110 to 112.

Goal kickers for the league were: Cary 3, Dylan Smith 2, Houghton 2 and singles to Elari, Rodgers, Ames, Coniglio and Geappin.

No standouts but I thought that Burnham, Houghton, Ames, Riddoch, Coniglio, Simpson, Notte and Broad had good games. I also thought that Nuich tried hard in the ruck against the Peel giants.

Peel started better but we wore them down in the end.

Connor Blakely was one of Peels best, apart from one bad miss kick that led to a goal for us that put us in front right on the 3 qtr siren.

A 5 goal to 2 last qtr for us was quite pleasing as we were going against the wind.

On a not so good note, I hope the peel reserves player who fell awkwardly is okay. He did not move after the incident and it was several minutes before he was taken from the ground. The start of the league game was delayed for several minutes as an ambulance had to drive onto the oval and then stop near the Swans change rooms so he could be transported to hospital

Great result even if only a scratchy.
Speaking to an insider during the week the thoughts were we would struggle with up to 7 of our best 22 not playing and peel having 11 afl listed players.
To get a 5 goal to 2 last qtr against the breeze speaks volumes for our fitness, mindset and belief.
Another good test next week before round 1.

We played well yesterday but not brilliant in our first hitout for the season and I'm hoping the players still step up a bit more in the next scratch match.

Some of our players showed some glimpses that they are ready to stand up others just showed they are nothing more than Ressies players. But that's what pre-season is for.

One of our players in the ressies got taken off in a stretcher just after the Peel player did.

Wish our player and the Peel player all the best and hope they both make a full recovery.

A/man did you happen to get down to Basso to watch Freo's reserves' team? I presume you are impressed with the form shown by Swans' player Connor Blakely playing for Peel.

Firstly, Connor Blakley is a jet - clearly BOG. He reminded me of Haselby in his first year and really should play from round 1 on that effort. His body shape has changed, much better runner and just seems to be in the right place at the right time.
I have contacted David King for advice on his Rising Star credentials.

Super impressed by many young SD players but work to so.. AFL players IMO would be Blakley, Weller & Hannath with former duck Ethan Hughes playing very well also. Apeness, Grey, Smith, Moller, Vandeleur & of course Col have a bit of work to do on that effort..

I like the look of Slater from EP, Riddoch, Nuich, Broad and Houghton from Perth also.
Tallen Ames ran from FB and kicked a goal also....Good win in trying conditions
