Swan Districts Baseball Club have a similar concept but the design is noticeably different.

I like the design but it does bother me that it's virtually identical to San Diego's. I probably wouldn't buy it for that reason.

If it was noticeably different to existing designs using a similar concept, I wouldn't mind that.

Can Swan's stock some snapbacks whilst they're at it. I'd wear a cap but for those of us with a big scone, they just don't fit well. One size fits all my arse.

As soon as I saw the number plate frames Swans are offering I noticed the Padre's SD logo, and associated it with San Diego, not Swan Districts.

For mine, Swans need to run with a logo that is distinctive.

The logo logo with the swan and oval with Swan Districts Football Club is good in my opinion, even though Collingwood had the oval with Collingwood Football Club first, it still makes it instantly recognisable.

I wanted a new stubbie holder this year, but I think I will give it a miss. One with the traditional logo would have been nice.

If the above is correct, 2 things stand out in my humble opinion....
The Black Ducks will get slammed by the Padre's corporate arm, whether this happens in the public forum or behind closed doors it will happen.
Is there absolutely no-one in WA or Australia for that matter that couldn't come up with a unique logo for the club?

But then again, the Atlanta Falcons have a logo that's familiar - so maybe the arm doesnt reach here???

One from the 1990 to 2002 ... the newer from 2002 onward... & as is the american way - many more alterations/versions to the theme...

All the comments on this have been good ones. What I want to know is: where is the 'fc' on the end. After all, it is the Swan Districts Football Club. Someone mentioned before, I think. In addition, if the club added those letters, it could claim that the logo is 'materially different'.

What was wrong with the black swan? I am not a Swans man, but I even dislike people refer to the club as the 'black ducks'.

Black ducks frequently visit Basso Oval being that we are located near the river Ark. Can't blame them or even us black ducks in human form for wanting to be amongst the ever so beautiful swans :P

I reckon it looks great! Smart work by the club to get in touch with our younger fans, and lets face it some clubs don't have any fans under 50, but we do so lets get them onboard and wear something fashionable to them to the game..and who says its a rip off from somewhere else?? Where is the proof? and since when are the letters SD copyrighted in the alphabet. Get positive about it Swans fans instead of whinging like Poms! I for one will buy everything on offer to go with everything else I have
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Each to their own thoughts I guess. Just shows another example of Australia losing more of it's own identity copying some one else.

hahaha geez maaaaaaaaaaate at least the minister of finance could have whacked the big historic Swan behind it to give it some more guts - then it would have been pure Swan Districts FC B)

You are kidding aren't you SWANDOG ......
I agree with the sentimernt of getting the younger fans on board but ..
The 'proof' is in the examples posted (by picture) of the logo from the america teams merchandising and the Ducks logo being a direct copy - 'without any alteration, addition, tweaking etc.
Not the most intelligent decision to come from the board or whomever the approver was

SwanDog,

No one is being a pom here... Hey I just noticed SwanDog, wasn't your idea was it?

San Diego has used the logo since 1969, so is nothing new. The use by Swans appears to me an attempt to copy the Fremantle logo.

In the united states, and within baseball particularly they have always been good at retaining their historical logo, for example th New York Yankee's with their distinctive NY, or Boston with their "B".

Australian Rules is a unique game, market it as such. Would be great to have the WAFL control merchandise a little, to ensure the marketing is all similar between the clubs, and the use of the WAFL logo would be beneficial.

Its all about professionalisim.
