Took one late in the qtr against one of mid size players, we had a tall sitting on the bench.
They need to ban the sports scientists, rotations are bullshit.
Your marking today was very good all day.

Yep, really like Howie.

He was unbelievable in the last quarter. Without his phenomenal efforts in the last, we lose. Simple as that. He also pushed up the ground and provided a low, lace out delivery to a forward which converted to a goal from memory.

On a day of poor conditions and skills, such efforts are particularly notable.

Ricky Cary has got a good leap and mark and Notte has always been good in the air. I think it was our ability to take those contested marks in the centre/wing area in the last quarter that enabled Swans to keep the ball locked up in the forward 50 for long periods.

mikeh wrote: I just wanted to mention a guy who doesn't get many accolades but every Swans supporter knows that he is such a good player and that is Alex Howard. In the absence of Simmo today, Howie raised his game to another level and took 10 marks and had 21 disposals whilst under quite a lot of pressure. He was playing well when Swans were not and that is the sign of a good temperament. Howie is an excellent reader of the game and is a key player in our backline.

Mikeh good to see others are acknowledging the progress of Howard this year. I received a fair amount of criticism suggesting that he was a smoky to be drafted last year. He obviously didn't get drafted and most Swans' supporters are grateful about that. It certainly was an opportunity for Howard, in Simmo's absence, to further demonstrate his worth.

Make no mistake, we were shit for 3qtrs. The bickering down at bench level was a disgrace from one of our senior heads.

Positives beside last qtr comeback to steal the game were Howard who played possibly his most important game ever as without him we would have lost, tony Notte got us going again when we looked gone, bluey Elari was hard all day and must mention his attack on the ball at CHF with 10 mins to go was as hard an attack on the footy as you'll ever see from a small bloke and in the process poleaxed a Perth player who to his credit went just as hard and finally for once at the canteen bar the hot chips were nice and crispy. Negatives I will leave untouched as too many but I will say to my father that he was pretty ordinary considering he only necked light beer all day..bloody Cadbury effort if I ever saw one :silly:
