I am loving every moment of this season so far. I walked out of Bassendean at 5.30pm yesterday with a massive smile on my face after another great performance, this time against the reigning premiers. If someone had said 5 weeks ago that Swans would be 4 – 1 after 5 rounds and priming up for a top of the table clash with Subiaco, I think they would have been locked up!

Again the boys had to come from behind, just as they did against Perth and Peel. They seemed to be struggling at times yesterday, especially in the 2nd quarter but they hung in there and were able to hit the scoreboard when they needed to. What impresses me is the attitude of the team, they seem really hungry and determined to prove all the doubters wrong. Harding’s three quarter time address was one of the most inspiring I have heard from him, he appears to have gone to a different level this year as well, maybe the whole club has been stung by that sleight from Johnson of the East Perth Eagles when he said that clubs like Swans and Perth didn’t have the AFL expertise that the aligned clubs have.

Where do you start with Swans, their defence again was very tight. Ames, Simpson, Jetta, Howard are all working well together and gave West Perth very little room to move for most of the game. Nathan Blakley battled manfully against Kuenan and he came out on top I thought. The midfield broke even or slightly shaded the Falcons mids apart from the 2nd quarter when Black, Nelson and Van Berlo got on top. Elari, Riggio, Rogers, Faulkner and Blight were all prominent players. The forwards found it tough going for most of the day but Cary, Geappen and Davis battled hard and had their moments. Yes we did get the rub of the green with umpiring decisions but I think Swans were overall harder at the ball and its interesting that often the 50/50 decisions go the way of the team that wants it more.

Just two moments in the game I wanted to highlight that had me up on my feet. One was Rogers beautiful long goal early in the last quarter at the Bassendean end. This was the first goal at that end for over 2 quarters and I think it gave Swans the belief that they could get over the line. The other one was that brilliant run from Boekhurst in the 3rd quarter where he carried the ball from half back through the centre and delivered to Tony Notte for a goal, inspiring stuff!

Just one negative amongst all the positives of the day, I was disappointed with the half wits who booed and jeered Andrew Krakouer every time he went anywhere near the ball. Some people have very short memories. The reality is without Krakouer, Swans WOULD NOT have won the 2010 flag and our premiership drought would now be standing at 24 years. He made a decision in the interests of his family and his long term future to go to West Perth. Swans could not match the offer because of their financial situation so that is the clubs problem not Andrew’s. Nobody expected Swans to roll out the red carpet and clap and cheer an opposition player, but I thought he deserved a bit more respect than he received from some people yesterday

I don't have a problem with Krak's decision, nor do I have a problem with boos heading his way. It's just a bit of harmless gamesmanship from the crowd.

What I DO have a problem with is the small minority that abused him and called him a traitor. Grow up guys.

Yes I thought that Souths would come good. Their next two games are against Claremont and Peel with a bye in between, so by then the Doggies could be back to a 50% win loss ratio and right in the hunt for top 4

Mike,

Apparently a SD official was abusing Kraks every time he went on/off the interchange bench.

George if that is true, that's f*#ked!

As an official you have to behave and act in a professional manner, not like a 10 cent school yard shit head. You're representing the club.

It's hurts watching Kraks in blue and red, but the man was a member of our great grand final team and played an instrumental part in winning that game!

For those supporters who went over the top with Kraks, grow up! I got nothing against harmless banter, booing etc, and everyone has the right to say what they want at a game, but that dosen't make it correct.

NO as far as I know NO official from SD gave abuse to Kraks.

Maybe should be talking about BILL MONAGHAN professional manner in the after game awards!!!
