Congratulations to Pete Hodyl here too .... was a very big hearted player back in the late 80's & 90's (excuse my timeline if it's out a bit) He came up from South Bunbury wasn't it lads?

Wish him well in settling the Black & Whites down ... the other 6 clubs need you guys hanging tough and pinching wins

Cheers!

Peter did play for South Bunbury, but that was after he had already had a stint down at Swans, came back a better player though, he played his junior footy at the Bassendean Junior Football Club...

Grassroots that is patent nonsense. Name the player(s) that were new in 2010 since you said that we bought the premiership in 2010.

Mudlark - when were the likes of Twomey, Geappen, Robinson et al recruited? Where did Swans' finish in the preceding years in the league, reserves and colts?

Pretty sure these guys were all in the team in at least 2008 when we made the grand final and lost to subi, unfortunately everyone remembers the year and game Kraks had when we won it in 2010, but they forget it took the whole team to win that day, including a 16 year old kid called coniglio who kicked 4 goals who came up through our junior zone....don't think we paid anything for him !!!!!

I think the point is that we are now paying the price for that successful period of 2008-2010 when the board opened the purse strings to a level that was not sustainable or responsible.
This board does a have a tough job and if they can help manufacture a turnaround in the club's fortune and be a part of building a successful team (maybe not this year but into the future) then they should be judged very favorably.

Exactly, some tough times ahead. Almost a mirror image of when the AFL started and the then Club administration ploughed on as if nothing had changed. Members for lifetime fees brought in to stem the tide, that worked well.

It did Grassroots. I was one of the ones who bought a lifetime membership to allow the club to have liquid funds when they needed it. That was many, many years ago and many of us continue to support the club. I believe the club's board knwos what needs to be done to ensure that we remain solvent, and hence, can continue as a club. Whilst our successes on the ground may be compromised in the short term if the board continues to provide the strong financial discipline required we will have success in the longer term.
