Quite simply through grandiose spending ala an AFL club by the previous board/management.
Over the last 12 months the current board have at least managed/tried to stop the haemorrhaging leftover and if that means we have to cut spending for the time being to get us back into the black so be it.
At the end of the day most of those that have left already have been recruited by Swans from Interstate or other clubs they are not Swans juniors so they are here for the $$$ not loyalty.
We thank them for their service over the years and move on, its time to put a MAJOR focus back on our own juniors coming through ala 2006, 07, 08!

Face the facts Turtle The club bought a premiership in. 2010 and have been suffering for it ever since to the point where they do not have the money to recruit or retain players. A couple of tough years ahead I am afraid.

What are you talking about buying a premiership?! That's almost the dumbest comment Ive read on here, are you going to say West Perth bought a flag last year? As it was their big recruits that ensured victory for them this year!!!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Unfortunately the truth hurts Swandog. Are you that naive that you don't accept that the current financial disaster goes back to the 2010 season.

Grassroots is spot on.Eleven of the premiership team of 2010 were non locals.Swandog, your mob bought a premiership bigtime and it continues into the present day as 8 out of the top 10 in your 2013 fairest and best count were guess what-non locals! In recent years there has been the salary cap investigation, the Sudafed saga, verging on the edge of bankruptcy earlier this decade and now heading down the same pathetic financial path again. The term slow learners comes to mind. And I thought Saint Kilda was a shambles.Your mob are a basket case.

Peter Hodyl is the new PRESIDENT of Swan Districts Football Club

I will be giving my 100% support to Peter as our new President, as he is the right man for the job.

Also Congratulations To Jim Benson who is back on the board, from last nights voting
I have a lot of time for Jim good on you mate.

Let's get back on track
The enforced alignment next year between West Coast/East Perth and Dockers/Peel
will certainly put a big strain on our Club and it will present a huge challenge for us and our finances and we must make a profit to stay alive and ensure the very
existence of the WAFL as we now know it. We all need to come together and work
hand in hand to make it work.
