Swan Districts champion Douglas 'Duggan' Anderson passed away on Friday December 7. Duggan played 210 games, being the first player to play 200 games with Swan Districts. His effort is even more meritorious when you consider he lost 4 fingers on his left hand in a saw mill accident in 1947 after playing 40 games. He also played for WA on 6 occasions, served on the Swans board after his retirement and was one of the men who helped bring Haydn Bunton Jnr to the club in 1961. He also played 11 games with Scarborough in the Sunday National FL after his retirement and in 1957 and was awarded the Best On Ground trophy in their premiership.

That story about losing his fingers and just taping them up and continuing is amazing, what a fine figure he was for SD and the WAFL R.I.P.

I read this story in the west during the week and was blown away by the size of the heart on this guy! To practically loose a hand then come back and continue your footy career then win more fairest and best awards is just unreal!
