Terrible news..Simmo is out for 2-4 weeks with an Ankle. They will try and get him back if we make it, but doubtful. Its fair to say he is a massive out for us and our hopes take a plunge. In our top 5 most valuable players if not our most valuable and reliable, not to mention versatile.

That is a major blow no doubt. Poor old Simmo must have run over a black cat with all his bad luck with injuries. His absence will put pressure on our defence and also Lobb because Notte will have to help out with the tall forwards.

Even if we get through tommorrow, our likely opponents in the first semi(East Perth) will monster us in the big man department. Gives Blight an opportunity to rise to the occasion.

But personally I reckon Parry would have been a good replacement

BH...what can I say, a great day for the club. Weather made for a very frustrating game for players & supporters alike but we toughed it out and when West Perth threw a little energy in to it at the beginning of the last ultimately our defence stood up well which is a good sign moving in to finals. My feelings were that WP still had another gear up there sleeve but the weather counteracted their ability to use it. I still think we are a much better side in the dry so I'm hoping for a bright sunny day next Sunday so we the supporters can also turn back time like in 1984 and cram 10,000 in to Basso in the final battle ever between us and the ferals. Here's hoping!!

Thanks for the offer of the limo. What I can tell you is since awakening this morning there has been some seriously heavy handed negotiating being played out in an attempt to secure next Sunday off work. The fact that Freo & Geelong are playing on Saturday has given me a bargaining tool as the guys I work with are all dorkers & cats fans so hopefully one will come to their senses and swap shifts with me. If not the only option left is to close the shop. I would never forgive myself for failing to 'bring the joy' in such an important match for the ducks simply coz of work. Must add I can ride this thing right up until preliminary final weekend if we get thru but due to overseas travel plans GF day is not an option for me. If we get there I'm gonna need you to bring it on home on behalf of the rest of us....Im sure if we make the GF you'll have no objections.

Interesting little side notes to yesterday's game.
Firstly if ever I've seen an omen that it could be the year of the black duck then surely it was watching my father, after his best attempts to drink the bar dry before during & after the game, staggering towards the dunny in the dark only to see him jump 10ft in the air as he has spooked by 2 aggressive little black ducks, for real, who obviously didn't appreciate some drunk bloke interrupting the dinner they were scavenging in front of the can bar. Tells me we've still got a bit of fight left in us this year to take in to the finals when even the ducks are up & about and feeling a little feisty. Reckon the old man just about dropped his lunch too which was a classic way to end a great day out.
Also must add that when that final siren blew, I'm not sure I've ever seen such a relieved fella as was our 'french waterboy'. His innocent indiscretion earlier in the year against Perth has been playing on his mind for some time now so it was high fives all round at games end and utter relief for him that it didn't cost the club a finals berth. Good to see that it meant so much to you Gino!!! Hope you hang around for years to come.

Hope you all enjoyed the suspense of yesterday's game coupled up with the infrequent updating of the scoreboard re the other games as much as I did. B)
