Round 20 Away v Peel Thunder Sat 2.30pm

So 14 out of 18 of our games are in the traditional Saturday afternoon timeslot with 2 evening, 1 twilight and a late morning game against West Coast. The WAFC seems to have ditched the Sunday games and there are a few friday night fixtures early in the season.

A bit of a strange spread of home games for Swans in that we are at Bassendean a lot in the early to mid part of the season but then have 3 away games in a row to finish so we would want to bank some early wins.

Did anyone attend the scratch match against Claremont on Saturday?  I am overseas at the moment so would appreciate any observations

I was there only for a half (left 20 mins into the second). Swans played well in that portion of the game and especially the first 15 mins of the second quarter to be a couple up, but going by the score Cl. steadied and moved away in the second half.

I did not see them warm up, and I assume Blakely (2), Kohlmann, O'Donohue (if still around) did not play but may have made an appearance in the second half. I could not see the sense of playing Grainger-Barras at CHB when there is little or no chance of him playing for Swans this year. Condolences, however, for his recent bereavement. Howard was tried at FF and kicked a couple, but the lump Yukich I thought played well. He might not be mobile, but it takes a while to get around him, and he won a few taps by just holding his ground. Lynch, Collins, Piani, Watson, and Pina played well. Cartwright wore number 15.

There were few that I did not recognise, but number 61 (?) got involved and looks a good sort.

Thanks for that SH. Just curious as to why Grainger-Barass would not play for Swans given he hasn't been picked up by an AFL club. Is it to do with the bereavement?
Reserves got smashed by 100 Points plus which is not promising from the depth point of view

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the depth Mike and instead would be encouraged that despite a plethora of outs we were more than competitive in the main game.

Missing were Trew, Blakely’s, Erceg, Odonahue, Clarke, Hilton, Bright, Reidy, Kohlman, Glass-Mckasker and Ireland.

What’s more concerning is the lack of updates and information on the social platforms and the club website. Surely it’s not that hard to update the list, the playing numbers and give us a half decent blog each week.

Chipper, Ehlers, T.Smith, Fitzgerald also didnt play in either grade on Saturday.
Danger I dont think JGM is playing this year.
A couple of injury concerns out of the game as well with 2 of our better players leaving the ground early.

And interesting to notice Swans are the only team to play their last 3 qualifying matches Away.
East Fremantle are Home for their last 3 qualifying games.
Claremont have 2 Home and 1 Away.
Subi have 2 Home and 1 Away.
Perth, South Fremantle, West Perth and Royals have 2 Away & 1 Home.
