Swan Districts Hall of Fame member Edward (Tim) Barker passed away on Saturday December 7, four weeks after his 98th birthday.
Tim held the club record for the most games played by a Swan Districts player at the time (239) until it was broken by Bill Walker in 1973. A full back during the worst era the club had experienced, he was club captain in 1957 and 58, won the Swan Medal in 1952, played five games for WA, and was also a member of the first Swan Districts team to win a premiership when he was part of the 1946 Colts (now Reserves) flag.
After retiring, Tim was elected to the Swan Districts committee, a position he held from 1959 to 67. Tim was a regular at Swans functions and was always dressed immaculately in a suit and tie. Tim was made a Life Member of the club in 1957, and at the time of his passing was the longest serving Life Member. His presence around the club will be missed.
Tim's funeral will be held next Friday, December 20 at Karrakatta Cemetery, commencing at 10.30.
