Once more we have a Sunday game. After last weeks 4 goal effort I have zero expectations going into this game apart from the hope that we can at least make a decent game of it unlike the putrid effort against the Royals. Last time we should have beaten them at Leederville but were tripped up by our wasteful footy.
Subiaco need this to keep in the frame for top 3 given they have lost their last two narrowly against fellow finalists and a defeat may put them in danger of finishing 4th or 5th.

Apparently the weather forecast is said to be fine around the grounds on Sunday which is a positive. Hopefully the various grounds are buzzing on game day. The home game attendances across in Bassendean have been good for Swans so far this season. Apparently as it currently stands just under 12,200 which is second only to West Perth's Home game crowds, so people say.
After this week, they have only 3 more Home matches.
If they can reach the 20 thousand attendees within the remaining Home matches, it will be a fantastic effort.
I think Subi had the narrowest of victories the last time the teams met at the football ground in Leedrville. Since then, both teams have won 3 games and lost 2. Should be a great match this one.

A bit has been said about the coach in the last week. Whatever his record, his move of Edwards into the forward line in the last quarter - arguably where he should have been all day anyway - was a masterstroke. His four goals - Swans' entire score in the last - got us over the line.

Well done to Glass and O'Donohue in keep two dangerous forwards quiet.

Collins, Cartwright, and Alforque's games in the last quarter in the seconds were outstanding. I hope they all get league opportunities before the season is out.

A much improved effort, both sides played direct footy in the last quarter when the game was up for grabs, why can’t we play like that all day.
Midfield tried hard against a losing ruck, 66 hit outs to 19.
O’Donoghue kept Sokol to 1 goal and that was a free kick, did Glass McCasker play on Mayo ? If so shut him out of the game.
Love O’Donoghue and his effort.
McLachlan very good.
Schofield good for Subi.
Not sure if the coach should get praise for putting our best forward in the forward line in the last quarter, he plays there all day and we win easy

Spot on MO & SH why was Edwards not up forward all day for goodness sake???
Wouldnt it be nice if we actually played a more direct forward game more often?
We may not be in this perennial bottom 5 if we actually played proper football but alas.......
MO Sokol's only goal from a free kick and then piss weak 50m penalty to the goal line.
The umpiring was at times totally bewildering, completely out of their depth!

Great win by the boys, certainly any win against Subiaco is to be savoured as they have been few and far between in the past decade. Finally they seem to have learnt to get over the line in these close games after so many gut wrenching losses earlier in the season.

I too do not understand why Swans cant try and attack the whole four quarters like we did the last yesterday. Tom Edwards is our best forward and he proved that yesterday.

Swans have got 5 more games and their aim should be to win as many of these as possible to take some momentum into 2024. They also have a reserves team on top of the ladder so supporters will have something to cheer for in September.

A good response after the previous weeks debacle and a fitting result to honor the late, great Ken Ball.

It was evident that we were playing a more up tempo game from the back half with less sideway and short kicks and when we went quick from midway we often were too speedy and put them under real pressure.

That changed in the 3rd term when we had dominance through the middle and fwd entries but Subi took numerous contested and uncontested marks deep in our 50. The game then changed when a blatant holding the ball was not paid on the outer hff and as a result the ball transitioned down the other end where Sokol was awarded a soft free and 50. The ensuing 10-15min of umpiring was abysmal, including the Cipro hit, and Subi took full advantage.

The last qtr ebbed and flowed and it looked like we’d snatch another defeat from the jaws of victory when up stood Tom Edwards.

Odonohughe was great all day, Ireland did some good things against Clarke but need’s consistency week to week, Watson shouldn’t move from half back, nor pina and Glass-McKasker is a solid anchor. Turner and Clarke had more fwd half possessions which is crucial and Kemp and McGlaughlin showed their class.

Need to back that up with another aggressive display this week.

For mine, with 5 games to go we have nothing to lose and the message should be clear - try to kick 15 goals every week from here. The boring as batshit under 10 goal performances have been or too familiar and it’s high time we played with more aggression and flair.
