Still looking for our first victory, will it come this week?
Looks like we will be without one of our best midfielders Aiden Clarke so others will have to step up to the plate.
What changes do people think will be made this week? Will Germs play? Are we going to get a first look at the Geelong recruit? Is Notte fit? Will Anderson pull on the boots this week?
All will be revealed at selection.

Should be a pretty hard game Mike.I think selections might have a big bearing this week(as they always do obviously) but I am thinking your question re Germs might be important.Glass - M did a big job in the ruck last week but I don't think he did much around the ground(would like your opinion on that). But he was a presence and one of your other posters suggested he could play  at CHF with Germs rucking. That would stretch our defence a little because at the moment we don't have a lot of height down there. It will be interesting to see where they play Jones this week.He didn't seem to do much in attack in the first half last week but was important in the comeback playing in defence. Also,if Aiden Clarke doesn't play that will be a big loss.He was clearly the linkman and very important to the structure. Not too sure on this but Conal Lynch came off at the end with a bruised looking left cheek which looked suspiciously like a fracture.Maybe the other WP boys can let us know. All in all forget our margin last week.If SD have the same intensity as they had last time at Bassendean we are in for a tough game.

Glass- Mccasker got a lot of ruck knocks but many of them were sharked (pardon the pun) by opposition players. He didnt do a lot around the ground. They may stay with the same configuration this week because bringing another tall like Germs in might make Swans a bit top heavy given they have Ireland, Collins and Noble in the team as well.
Clarkes absence is going to put the onus on other experienced midfielders such as Fisher, Turner and Watson to lead the way supported by the younger players.
Last year when Swans beat WP at Bassendean our defence held the Falcons to 6 goals only. They were helped by the fact that it was a foul day and they will struggle to hold Keitel, Knott and Co in the fine weather expected on Sunday.

SD for me, they have a quality defensive unit which will make life difficult for WP forwards, especially Keitel. Up front SD tall forwards will stretch WP undersized defence, allowing Kemp and Cameron to feast on any crumbs. Only place where WP have the one over SD is the midfield, especially with Clarke out.....where is Frank?

SD are due, two close defeats could of been 2 close wins. WP will definitely find SD chalk and cheese compared to WCER. SD by 24 pts.

Should be a good contest this one given the fine weather looks set to continue over the weekend.
In their last 5 matches, Swans have lost 4 and had 1 win. Interestingly that win being against West Perth towards the end of last season.
West Perth on the other hand have seen the last 5 matches for the 4 wins and 1 loss.
The start of the twenty 23 season seen Swans are really competitive with the 2 narrow losses that could have been two wins. No real reason for not winning this match if they can play 4 quarters of footy.

The positive is that Swans have played poorly in the last two-weeks but have lost by less than a kick. If a couple of the more capable players that have been unsighted in the last few weeks (Jones in particular) start getting their hands on the football we might get over the line.

Tobe Watson is out injured as well as Aiden Clarke and the loss of these two experienced players tips the scale well and truly in West Perths favour. On a positive note a debut for the Geelong recruit Mclachlan and Doc Blakley is back for his first game for a few years. Tony Notte's name has appeared on the reserves list. Still no Anderson, I'm starting to wonder if he will play at all this year to be honest. Also there is no information about Cipro and what his issue is, he would have been very handy in the absence of Clarke

mikeh, from what I have heard Cipro is recovering from a recent hernia operation and Anderson from hamstring. Do not have an estimate on their return.

Thanks for this information R U Serious. It would be really good if the club could update its members on the injury list via the excellent newsletter that we get every week. The "Injury hub" on the WAFL website is completely useless.

Yes the whole wafl website leaves a lot to be desired! Perhaps someone whose in the know on ozfooty could complete an updated injury list for all the 8 wafl clubs on a regular basis? Many people are interested in such. Sadly no reliable info is available. Just thinking aloud.
