Reported in the West Australian the other day that Tony Notte is on the verge of making a comeback. Not this week but probably in the next few matches. Would be great for the team for him to be out there leading the defence.

Well done Sharks, too good on the day. The only reason Swans were still in the game in the time on period of the last quarter was East Freo's wasteful kicking in front of goal. They really should have put us away by half time. They were far more organised, better by hand and foot and took some really good grabs, particularly in defence. Mind you, Swans made it a lot easier for them by bombing the ball aimlessly into the forward line.

The positives from Swans point of view was the way the defence held up in the face of endless attacks by the opposition. The Sharks had 15 more inside 50s and had about 70 disposals more than Swans, this would usually translate into a 6 - 8 goal win so the defence can take a lot of the credit for us nearly pinching it in the end.  Erceg and Bright were outstanding I thought but the whole back line worked well considering the pressure they were under. I thought Kemp played his best game for Swans today. He really battled hard in a forward line with limited opportunities
Even though Glass- Mccasker got a heap of taps, many of them went to Sharks players who seemed to have the ball on a string coming out of centre bounces. I think Jesse would be better value at Centre Half Forward and bring Germs back in as the specialist ruckman.
I lost count of the number of kicks and handballs that went astray and were easily intercepted by the opposition.
Doesn't get any easier, the premiers next week and we are now looking down the barrel at a 0-3 start to the season.

PS the umpiring was absolutely awful, all the players seemed totally bewildered by some of the decisions. Marks that were quite clearly taken were not paid, free kicks were called by non officiating umpires 50 metres away whilst the guy 10 metres away didnt call it. Both teams copped it so it had no impact on the result. I notice that there were comments about the umpiring at Leederville as well so maybe its a low standard overall.

Umpires were the same At Leederville. Subi would have got beaten easily either way. But 4 free kicks in a game?
I should be used to it by now

Does anyone know what is the status of some of the players who are out at the moment? We know that Tony Notte will be back soon, possibly this week but haven't heard anything about when Cipro Mclauglan and Anderson in particular will be fit to play.

My concern is that Swans season could well be slipping away  before these guys get a chance to pull on the boots. We are playing West Perth this week and if we don't manage to win that it will be 0-3 in an 18 game season and already playing catch up with our competition.
