Swans played a rugged tough game today, well done to them. They exposed deficiencies in West Perth’s game style. The loss of Hamilton didn’t help us and no Pegoraro, our backline was deficient. Swans played like a fresh bunch of ready to go and take them on team, WP played like, a bit tired. BTW, the hamburgers used to be good, not today, thin burnt meat and cold, not flash. GF should be played at BAZZO.

You are not wrong Winger that was a tough ol affair yesterday no beg pardons from both sides, not a free flowing game by any means but an old fashioned scrap in the misty rain.
Swans had to make a contest of this after last weeks non effort vs a polished EF where we virtually allowed them to do as they please and more often than not down the corridor.
A good crowd in attendance (despite the inclement weather again at about our 6th home game in a row) as we normally do get against WP at Basso and the noise and atmosphere in the last qtr as Swans started to make a charge and I am sure it inspired the SD boys on and reminded me again why I love this club and the WAFL, as sometimes it is good to get a reminder after near on 30 tough years.
Great turn out from our 1980s Premiership legends too with almost all in attendance bar a few away or Interstate and the upstairs members bar was packed after the game and a great feelgood spirit was evident amongst the crowd.

BH, great effort from your boys yesterday, I think most WAFL supporters were cheering you on so you can get a look at the AFL mob next week. I see the Peelmantle cheats have managed to have the game played on Sunday so they can include the emergencies from the Freo game, what a bunch of self-entitled scumbags. I hope the Black and white army take over the Guildford to Freo to Mandurah train and you get a big turnout to support your boys. the best thing for the integrity of the comp is for the Ducks to win and win well.

Fantastic to see SD take their finals quest deep into the H&A season......obviously a tall task ahead of them.....hopefully it's a case of both Freo teams losing at their respective home grounds next week......as a WBD fan I know what it's like to see your team make the finals at very death of a the H&A season....fingers crossed SD fans experience the same level of achievement....

Well done Swannies. What a great effort in front of your legends. I’m 100% behind you guys for next week against that joke. I think Swans just need some self belief, which you should have now. No way you should have lost that game v Subi in Kalgoorlie.

Courage plus win against a very good team. I agree BH the atmosphere was sensational reminiscent of the Bunton - Todd golden eras particularly in the last quarter.
I was lucky enough to be there as I had only returned from Thailand very early Friday morning after two and a half years over there.
One gripe, the video replay of the match I watched today failed to capture the passion and emotion of the crowd at Basso on Saturday. Obviously there must have been a technical problem with their outside sound effects, which unfortunately detracted from the ambience of the occasion.

Welcome home SS 1961, great game to come back to.

Whatever happens next Sunday, one significant achievement that this team has under its belt in 2022 is that they now have won 9 consecutive games at Bassendean Oval. This has not happened since 1983 -84 when the great team of that era won 11 in a row at Bassendean. They have made the ground a bit of a fortress this year with the early loss to East Fremantle the only blemish.

A few years back I'm sure that opposition clubs used to look forward to coming up to Basso for a pleasant afternoon, have a bit of a run around, collect 4 points and head back for their clubrooms for a drink. Not any more.

The next objective for the Swans guys is to try and take the skills, determination and intensity they have shown so much at home this year to other grounds where they have often dropped games they should have won. That is why we are in a must win situation next week rather than safely lodged in the top 5.

Welcome home Siam Swan 1961...which was of course the year of our greatest ever moment as a club.

Mike you are right about making Bassendean Oval a fortress and a place opposition teams dread coming too again, the only one we did lose at home this year was the first one we played at home this year vs EF when we lead for all but the last few minutes of the game so that was another in hindsight we should have won.
Hopefully we can continue that in the future but yes we do have to start winning games away from home as well with only 1 win outside of Basso this year has cost us a Top 5 spot and we had plenty of chances to win in probably most of those other than the game last week at the WACA vs EF in which we were poor after half time.

Yes there were several away games that we had a very good chance to grab
Good friday v East Perth at Leederville
Vs Subiaco at Kalgoorlie
vs Souths at Fremantle
If we could have won just one of those games we would be in a lot better position now.
