Another big challenge arrives this week with taking on the Tigers at Claremont Oval.
We havent played them since Rd1 which was one of the best games of WAFL footy I have seen in a while with 38 goals kicked between the 2 teams.
The likes of Bolton, Rogers, Mountford, Lim, Patmore, Carter, Edwards, Hardisty etc pick up a truckload of footy usually through the middle and must be contained somewhat.
Ireland unfortunately injured his shoulder early last week and will be missing, we wait and see whether Gault can get through training unscathed whilst Riggio should be right to come back in.
I would like to see Edwards come back in up forward and also Ugle given a run as he has some tricks and has got some match fitness now after missing most of the season with injury.

Hopefully Jarred Hardisty is playing and not coaching in a pink shirt BH like he did in the last qtr against us when the game was on the line. Hardly left the field in the last qtr as a runner.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

Hmmm. Looks like Swans have pretty much conceded this game by leaving out Fisher, Anderson, Howard and Jetta, presumably resting all of them for the final next week. Understandable given we can't improve on 5th position whatever happens but I don't feel entirely comfortable with it given that a 10 goal thrashing by a potential finals opponent would not engender much confidence in the team for next weeks assignment. I think we can probably put a line through Gault for next week as well

It is 1st vs 2nd in both the Colts & Reserves games actually Freeze.
Having said that I reckon Claremont will win all 3 games tomorrow.

Well done to SD for getting all 3 grades into the finals.....think the colts finals will be a fantastic show of WA's wealth of talent.....Great effort by the state boys v SA last weekend....definitely some quality on show right across all finalists.....Should be a cracking game between EF and EP youngsters as well BH...pity it won't be live streamed.

All the grades will be impacted by the league Boys who have been pulled out. I just don't think Swans can afford to mess with their form so close to the finals. If Fisher and Co have got a niggle or soreness fair enough but Swans had a bye only 2 weeks ago so they would have had a chance to rest up then. Even though the league game doesn't mean much in terms of ladder position, this match is an opportunity to develop the teams confidence by putting up a really competitive performance against a premiership contender similar to what they did at Fremantle last week, this will probably not happen. Whether this strategy freshens these players up for the elimination final remains to be seen

I do not have an issue with giving some of the men a spell. Last week Fisher looked leg weary - slow without carrying an noticeable injury. Similar with Anderson. The lack of pace around the packs has been a problem all year, and anything that might freshen chief ball getters before the finals are good ideas. Looking forward to the test today.

Well done to the Colts team for an outstanding season capped off with a 5 goal last quarter comeback today against the Tigers. Only one loss all season v East Perth and a percentage of 198. A rosy future ahead for the club if a significant group of these Boys can graduate into the league team.

Absolutely cracking Colts game Mike between 1 & 2 on the ladder and lived up to the billing with Swans finishing strongly in the last 10 minutes or so to win by 9 points.
Not sure why the West talks up the psa comp so much when it is a rung or 3 lower than Colts footy but no doubt it would be money related, this years Colts finals series should be a ripper with all clubs a chance to win it on their day especially EF who are coming from 4th and EP from 3rd.

The league game was not a bad game of footy Swans obviously somewhat depleted with 11 of our best 25 missing but the guys who came in really had a crack against a strong Claremont side at home.
Those lads that all came in played well and have given the selectors food for thought with their 'have a red hot go' attitude that needs to be at least matched if not bettered next week by those who didnt play yesterday.
Not as high scoring or as free flowing as our Round 1 clash which was probably the best game of WAFL footy I have seen this season but was close for 3 qtrs just the 3rd qtr cost us where we cooked our chances inside 50 whilst Claremont made the most of theirs.

Apologies for not mentioning earlier in the thread but congratulations to club stalwart Jesse Turner on his 100th League game, he has been a shining light to all of those who never give up on their dream to play League footy. Jesse missed out on our 2014 Colts flag side but has used that as motivation to turn himself into a fine WAFL footballer and along with Warrick Wilson is the only player from that side still at the club.
Also congrats to Jehb O'Donoghue on making his League debut on Saturday and he was very good too I thought,.....does anyone know if Jehb is related to former SD player of the 1980s Jamie O'Donoghue?
