Was looking through the Budget from a few weeks back (5th April). There was an East Freo team listed that included Paddy Ryder, Harry Taylor, Jason Johannisen, Luke McPharlin amongst others.

Given the success of Swans players to the AFL over the last few years, and the 2010 premiership, who would we have?

Plus others. Out of all the AFL and WAFL 'Swans' Who would be in the team, and how competitive would they be on a national stage?

On a side note Swans had signed Kyle Martin to play this season before Collingwood drafted him & he made a fair debut on Friday night with 22 possessions & 2 goals!

Good post Mike, got me exercising my brain on a holiday monday!

There are 16 Swans origin players playing in the AFL at the moment so I have placed them in a team and added 6 current members of the Swans side to complete the 22. Most of the AFL guys are small forwards or mids so most of the additions were key position players. I also didn't consider guys like Lachie Neale who is an AFL player but not a Swans origin, but I did include Tim Geappan who is a current Swans player but not from the district

It would be interesting to see other WAFL clubs line ups, I'm sure there would be some pretty strong teams

Good point, I wanted to put all 16 players from the AFL lists in the team, so there was no place for Wayde in that situation, but if you were looking at the best combined team (AFL guys plus the current Swans best 22, I would consider putting in Twomey, Roach, Riggio Hildebrandt and Hams possibly in place of Banfield, Ellard, Newman, Neville Jetta and Bennell.

Wouldn't have thought so.

He went to North Melbourne, not sure where is since he got delisted. I expect somewhere in Victoria.

Oops just realised I made a huge blue and left Andrew Krakouer out . So he would come into the original team probably in place of Graham Jetta
