Congrats to Subi on the win & as for Swans we are heading to the Wooden Spoon.

You got to be joking mate, we have that stitched up the year

Believe you me Baz we are playing the WORST football in the WAFL at the minute ..insipid, uninspiring, uncompetitive & unskilled are words that spring to mind on how we are playing!

There is no way swans will finish below south , we are seriously crap, and poorly lead, we got pumped by 11 goals at home yesterday and have a derby this week which we will be pushing shit up hill to win...in saying that I reckon swans will miss finals this year with subi sneaking in.

Going on yesterday mate i cant see how Subi could sneak in, we were terrible and they were equally so..East Perth i think will tip out pretenders East Frem, and then 4 is set..however its all academic as from what ive seen this year across the board and thats around 18 games already incl scratchies, Claremont will sh1t in in again..they would beat Melbourne atm i reckon

Interesting Swandog that you would refer to us as pretenders & somehow be confident that EP will tip us out of the 4. Given that EP got rolled by Peel on the weekend they are not exactly putting their hand up. As far as I am concerned only the top 3 sides in the top 4 currently deserve their place & Claremont are the only certainties to stay in the 4.

West Perth & Perth have made huge improvements so far. I hope Perth can keep up their improvement & make finals as they have had so little success for so long. West Perth made a very impressive statement on the weekend & inflicted Perth's first poor loss.

This season has shown that no games can be taken for granted & there are very few easy games. At present EF, Subiaco & Swans are too inconsistent & have not shown me enough yet to inspire any confidence. Until one of these sides steps up we are all pretenders.

However we have an opportunity next week to consolidate the 4th spot we hold so tenuously at the moment. If we beat South Fremantle (which is no certainty but would be tipped) & West Perth beat East Perth, Perth beat Swans & Claremont beat Subiaco we will be a game & substantial percentage in front of East Perth with a game in hand & 2 games in front of EP & Subiaco. However maybe Swans will do us a favour & roll Perth so we can pinch 3rd place off Perth on percentage.

Claremont may appear to be overwhelming certainties to win 3 in a row but nothing is definite at this point. Obviously many will look back at 2010 as an example. 1995 is another where Subiaco only lost 2 games for the whole year then lost the 2nd semi to WP by 1 point & then got smashed in the GF by WP.

Twomey won't be back next week I've heard as Harding and him had a disagreement

Turtle do you know this for a fact or was is just a rumour? If this is true it is probably an indication that all is not well within the playing group. I found it very hard to believe that Twomey would have been dropped on form given his Simpson medal the previous week. The Swans show on 91.3 could be interesting listening this week as the main two contributers to the show are.... you guessed it, Harding and Twomey

It's weird that he gets dropped after one bad game isn't ?

Harding is trying to prove a point and screwing the season just sack him already

Dead right Pup ! Throw in 1999 with Souths alignment dominance, we beat them for the 1st time on GF day. Claremont have been at their most vulnerable this season even though they are 9-0. With close games v WP,P and Peel already, it is an open field atm with Claremont being a healthy favourite no doubting. (I know they have some injuries, that is all part and parcel of a seasons football)

In 2010 Claremont weren't as dominant against us over the course of the year and we finished with a 2 all and a draw record with us getting it done when it mattered, I think this year is a bigger gulf with perhaps WP being the serious contender to perhaps get them on an off day otherwise engrave it now, when you look at the talent they have coming back from injury its a massive prospect, and it say it again Claremont are a better side than Melbourne atm its fair too say
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

back to the game - Harding has now coached 48 games for Swans for 24 wins and 24 losses..
after those 48 games we still dont have a defined game-plan and as supporters we were subjected to the pile of rubbish that was Saturday's performance.
and one of our best players is in the reserves..
and Harding is a full-time coach with a contract until the end of next year..going well..

Interesting that Twomey was quoted in the media as saying he was 'gob smacked' that he was dropped. Harding told him apparently that he had to be more defensive minded. Its all very well being good defensively but when you have 80% of the play as Swans did in the first quarter on Saturday and the net result was 2 points, surely Twomeys attacking skills would have been useful in that situation. I still cannot understand why Harding picked him out of all the other midfielders many of whom have been less efficient with the ball than Wayde. Maybe the coach doesn't like people disagreeing with him

considering the way Harding played football I wouldnt have thought he would have a problem with blokes being unaccountable..

Yeah I agree - I reckon WP and to some extend Perth and to a lesser extent EF are the only real contenders, and I say that in terms of who will be runner up, Claremont are a class above the comp at the moment, they would give Melbourne a good shake.

It's Monday morning and I have had time to reflect on the game from Saturday. My first observation is as bad as Subiaco were and they were really bad we were superior in our mediocrity on Saturday. I don't think I have seen a worst display of skills in any Swans' team.

With respect to the coach I don't see how you can blame him for our inability to be ablt to kick the ball 20 metres to another player. The number of times we handpassed or kicked and weren't able to hit a target is a reflection on the players. My take of the Twomey dropping was that Harding was trying to make the point that the team overall has to pull up their collective socks and improve. Whilst we perhaps had the effort on Saturday our skills were dreadful. Perhaps the 'highlight' (i.e. read lowlight) was when we had 6 kicks in our defensive 50 metre arc and then messed up the seventh kick which resulted in a goal.

A special mention should go to Lammie after his very bad game the previous Saturday he was one of very few who could be reasonably happy with their own performance.

I certainly don't know why we are playing so poorly but it will be a tremendous turnaround for us to beat Perth at Lathlain Park Oval this Saturday. It is an intriguing suggestion that Swans' supporters will give up after last Saturday's effort. Whilst it was extremely disappointing and depressing to see our performance, I will be, like most other Swans's supporters, at the game on Saturday hoping for a better performance.

I believe Nuich may have been reported in the reserves' game on Saturday. On the players who play in the ressies on Saturday Jukes would be one who will come into the selection discussion I believe, along with the likes of Lobb and Cary.

Geappen looked extremely proppy on Saturday so I am not sure whether he is injured or just completely lacking in confidence as I can't understand why he would not try to go for goals rather than pass when only 35 metres out.

I would recommend all Swans' supporters listen to 91.3 on Tuesday 7.30 pm it should be very interesting to say the least.

Finally, a hint of optimism from Saturday's performance, and we at Swans are on optimistic lot BH, if we had kicked 5 goals 1 rather than 6 points in the third quarter the result may have been different. It will be hard for us to make the four given our form thus far this season but where there is life there is hope.
