You should be hired by The West Mike to do their footy reports.
Great read and recollection of an unforgettable day/night.

And yes Alfreds Kitchen in Guildford near the train station is an institution in WA for real hamburger lovers especially those of us who grew up in or around the area of the Swan Valley/Perth Hills, they also do a mean pea soup from memory.

We were on a bus back to The Valley after that game and stopped at Basso for people who wanted to go party the night away. The bus the whole way back was insane. Can't remember how many times we sung the song. Apparently the trains were all the same as well. Going nuts!!

I sat with my best mate who was a claremont supporter and when they hit the front with 90 seconds or whatever it was left he was dancing a jig! He must have been the only supporter in our section too the prick. Enter Krakeour and didn't the stands just erupt when he kicked that goal. It felt like 80% of the crowd was going for Swans!

A great read Mike - brilliant stuff, if only the real journalists could write match reports like that.

You should send it to the club for the 10 year reunion- I’m sure the players would enjoy reading how the game went from a fans perspective. I think your points would have been similar to most of us Swans supporters, they definitely resonated with me.

Brilliant 10/10!

Mike Excellent stuff.
Although watching the replays over and over again thrills me,the biggest chill down the spine I get is istening to Chris Mitsopolous call of the last qtr where in the dying minutes he foreshadowed the finish and the Part Krakouer would play.

Cesspit -Ridley said before the game if Claremont loses today {I will swim too somewhere} thousands of kms away. Was impressed by Turnbulls special comments and his knowledge. Surprised he didn't fit in at the Eagles somewhere.

I recall at the time he had a really good business going in mobile accessories.

Alfreds Kitchen or Peters by the Sea, mmmm being a Scarborough boy Petes wins but the pea soup is worth the drive!

Don't want to be a party pooper but this GF win has a huge asterisk next to it doesn't it? You have spent the last 9 years paying for it. Mind you you can put an asterisk next to every premier over the last 10 - 15 years probably with the exception of SF, CL and WP under Harris and Dimmer.

Best kebab and bang for your buck these days is Oscars on Eighth Ave Maylands. Can highly recommend.
