Well done, WA.

Fantastic maiden first class ton by young Teague Wyllie. 2nd youngest shield centurion behind Ponting, and we all know his first class record. Obviously only match one, but great start by a couple of WA youngsters with bat n ball. Morris 5 for, Rocchi with a a couple of wickets, Fanning hanging tough early on and of course Wyllie.

Hopefully Voges keeps faith with the youth and realizes with a shield flag in his coaching CV, promoting youth is the way forward. Exciting times for WA cricket wise....lots of depth in the squad both on the batting and bowling fronts....going to be some tough calls during the season.

Certainly a bright future ahead for WA cricket  The bowlers are back at work today and have reduced NSW to 4 -64 at lunch, still 14 behind. Hopefully they can polish off the lower order quickly and perhaps finish the game today.

I've been lucky enough to be able to spend time at the WACA over the past three days and I reckon we've seen the arrival of Lance Morris in this game. Bowled with great aggression and control - the two key ingredients - and looked the best bowler out there by a mile. Now needs to back it up against VIC and QLD next but what a great prospect the lad looks. 

And massive kudos to the curator. Top pitch. Keep it up and may we please see more like this for the QLD and SA games before the fk gets baked out of it and its turns into Canning Hwy.

AR yes we (WA) are defending Champions in the-

Marsh One Day Cup (50 overs)
BBL (T20-Perth Scorchers)

valuable early season win even though it was a second string NSW - we were in a bit of strife but our young brigade rescued the first innings and it proved to be the difference in the end
good that the bowlers exploited the wicket which was helping the bowlers

BH: thanks for that, mate; it was a good effort last season. I still remember how bias most of the commentary was last season in the Shield final. Even though WA had them coverred, it was a bloody long five days listening to them. I don't think Julian was on.

Teague Wyllie a teenager from Manduarh scored a debut century on a wicket that gave plenty for the bowlers.Great support from Kelly 47 no.

Gee you can see why the Vics have been hard to beat at home over time with some of the home town umpiring in the Shield match just finished.
It would be fair to say there were 5 or 6 absolutely baffling decisions that all favoured Vic.
Having said that our catching was just as deplorable we must have dropped at least 6 catches including Handscomb who made 280no about 4 times.
