From thewest online:

Click on a three minute and 20 second video of past great Derby moments at
au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/afl/a/31...derby-greats/?cmp=st

"For 119 years they have provided some of the best matches in the WAFL.

And the next instalment of the East Fremantle-South Fremantle derby kicks off on Saturday at ATOM Stadium.

It is time when the greats of the game - William 'Nipper' Truscott, Steve Marsh, Jack Clarke, Ken Judge and Chris Mainwaring on the Sharks side and Clive Lewington, John Todd, John Gerovich, Stephen Michael and Brad Hardie on the Bulldogs end - are remembered for their great deeds.

And Australia's No.1 football caller, Dennis Cometti, a devotee of WAFL history has taken a special look back at some of the big derby clashes.

Former Shark Tony Buhagiar and South Fremantle stalwart Noel Carter had some great battles during the 1980s.

The round six battle at the Sharks' home ground will be the 371st battle between the arch rivals.

South Fremantle go into the clash with an unbeaten 4-0 record while East Fremantle, under new coach Rob Wiley, have won half of their four fixtures.

But for the moment it is prudent to go further back into time to recall the days when fans flocked to the port for the matches.

And it must be remembered that the biggest crowd for a football match in WA was the 52,781 for the 1979 grand final between the then Old Easts and Bulldogs.

East Fremantle won that match by 33 points."

Fkn BRILLIANT!! That's what WAFL was all about. No wonder Stevie Marsh said " there's only one true Derby and that's the Freo Derby". How true!!
