This game against Claremont will be McGough's final match for East Fremantle:

Former East Fremantle Football Club skipper Mark McGough has announced his retirement from football. McGough spoke emotionally in front of his East Fremantle teammates and staff before training on Wednesday night, saying that the effort to get his body up week in week out was becoming too difficult

He will be missed.

Sad way for Mark McGough to go out. Being a good servant for East Fremantle with just over 100 games to his credit.
He played a good match today, having the second most ball disposals in the match apparently.

This was a very disappointing effort to say the least. The side was pretty much insipid for the entire game apart from a very dominant final 15 minutes of the second quarter. Unfortunately we failed to kick any goals during that period.

Mark thanked all the supporters who were waiting for the awards to be given out, for all their support. When he spoke after receiving his award for best player for the Sharks it was obvious to see & hear that he was genuinely hurt after that performance by the team.

I think the club needs to do a lot of soul searching because today's performance took the club to a very low level.

Mark has been a great player for the Sharks and I have enjoyed watching him give his all over the years. Best Wishes for the future.

I see McGough has been selected to represent the GNFL at the Wesfarmers Country Carnival this weekend......how many games has he played for Brigades in the GNFL this year?..

not sure there freezing but he played for GNFL today with limited game time

Pretty sure Verbruggen for GSFL was selected without playing a game in the League, was just cleared from GNFL
