The game has not changed -- EF will win nothing so long as they kick the ball over the heads of their forwards -- whether they be short or tall players -- and have the ball bounce here there and bloody everywhere away from the forward, whom also has to contend with a defender on his ginger. The club is playing hope ball not football. I would appeal to the club -- instead of coming up with theories about how the game has changed -- to play basic football. Play Hampson at full forward and kick the ball to his chest. If you can mange that, given the ability of your squad, you might just see a flag.

Haha I hear what you are saying Ark and I have long been a subscriber to the theory that footy as a game/spectacle has been destroyed by defensive coaches eg former back pocket/backmen players. What we need are former full forwards/centre half forwards becoming senior coaches and coming up with a more attacking style of play ala Blight to bring the game back to the spectacle we all grew up with rather than the defensive minded game plan crap most subscribe too nowadays!

Well maybe there is hope for the Demons with Earl Spalding at the helm.
I agree BH, too many defensive tactics in the game. It has got too much like soccer and other off side games.
The game is so much more a spectacle when goals are being scored. Give me an old fashioned shootout any day.
I doubt that we shall ever see it again. Too many rule changes and defensive coaches have destroyed the game.

Sounds like Noah's Ark was at the intra club last night. Hampson is 188cm and is about 80kg, so what is the reason he plays at full forward? Would rather go with the 190cm plus guys and hit them on the chest with those daisy cutters instead, at least they have a better chance of grabbing the ones going overhead.

Hampson as the main target at full forward? 188cm, not very strong, 60 goals from 50 odd games, I don't reckon opposition full backs are shaking in their boots at that proposition.

strono: thanks, but you don't have to over-do matters.

Tiger of Old: I am interested in Hampson as a fast leading forward; Breman, at Subiaco, was much shorter at under six feet.
